Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Assistant FLOW Supervisor, the Flow Cytometry Technologist performs with proficiency, the tests and procedures assigned to the Flow department to include assay development, validation, overall test monitoring and troubleshooting. The position is responsible for accurate reporting of results, quality control, training new employees, equipment maintenance and all other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Position Schedule:

Ideally 3rd Shift with schedule flexibility available. Ideal schedule options:

  • Monday - Friday 5pm-1:30am or
  • 3 days/week FT or PT.
  • Weekend only available if preferred.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform immunophenotyping assays, verify appropriate test panels and choose additional testing with proficiency and understanding of Flow Cytometry principles
  • Analyze and accurately report Flow testing on all sample types
  • Maintenance and documentation of departmental instrumentation performance metrics
  • Prepare cocktail antibodies, reagent stock and working solutions
  • Complete QA and QC documentation on a daily basis
  • Assist with inventory management
  • Troubleshoot issues and assist with updating laboratory procedures
  • Participate in weekend on-call rotation
  • Assist leadership with processing new tests and validation/confirmation testing
  • Assist with training of employees as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • ASCP certification preferred
  • 4-year degree in biological sciences/chemistry or completion of accredited laboratory program
  • High-volume sample preparation and testing in a clinical bioscience laboratory
  • Preferred: flow cytometry operation, troubleshooting and maintenance in a work environment

Physical Requirements

  • Be able to lift 10+ lbs.
  • Be able to stand for over 5 hours at a time
