GENERAL SUMMARY

Under the general direction of the Site Leader, directs and coordinates Production, Materials, and Quality and Engineering activities at the assigned facility. The primary function is to produce and deliver quality products on time and in the most efficient and cost effective manner. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of production operations, planning / scheduling, and shipping. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Responsible to plan, manage and direct all manufacturing activities and support services as to achieve optimum production levels, maintaining the highest standards of quality while improving manufacturing costs.
  • Direct and coordinate acquisition and installation of capital equipment, major rebuilding and machine modifications, plant layout, tooling, and related activities. Prepare for approval Capital Expenditure Authorization Required documents and supporting justification as required.
  • Participate in annual and strategic planning processes.
  • Direct the implementation and use of appropriate reporting systems, manufacturing processes and quality programs and processes. Ensure continuing compliance with ISO requirements.
  • Investigate new manufacturing techniques.
  • Responsible for the implementation and adherence for all company, corporate, local, state and federal safety and environmental policies and regulations.
  • Assure that detailed methods and labor standards are in place. Apply cost improvement programs to achieve global cost excellence.
  • Ensure that the operation is appropriately staffed with qualified, motivated and properly trained personnel.
  • Promote open communications, continuously striving to improve working relations and trust between the employees and the Company.
  • Reflect continuous improvement in all manufacturing disciplines and product competitiveness.
  • Participate in preparation of annual budgeting, capital planning and operations reports.
  • Other duties as prescribed by site leader.

SKILLS

  • Materials and planning management expertise.
  • Intimate knowledge of lean manufacturing processes and systems. A seasoned change agent with extensive knowledge and skills in practices and procedures of continuous improvement such as Kanban, 5S, visual controls and standardization, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, 3P, Quick Changeover, Poka-Yoke, and 80/20 philosophy
  • An experienced leader who can readily assimilate new technologies and ideas, manage learning and change, and create a vision for a high performance, team-based organization, now and in the future.
  • A collaborative partner who is capable of, and willing to work with peers and leadership to foster an organization with World Class standard operating practices, cost measures and reporting systems.
  • Demonstrated process development and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of cost accounting and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and specifically supply chain management systems is required.
  • Demonstrated experience and success working in a fast paced, matrix environment satisfying multiple customers. Can assist the site leader in driving the business.
  • Experience managing managers and professionals. The ability to develop teamwork between groups and to lead and drive multifunctional teams.
  • Knowledge of or experience with lean manufacturing systems to develop long range make/buy decisions.
  • Strategic planning/thinking skills coupled with analytical and execution skills.
  • Excellent Communication Skills – logical and organized
  • Ability to relate from the shop floor to the executive levels. Able to tailor approach to audience
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft applications: PowerPoint, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with top executive and senior level management, both internally and externally.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) strongly preferred with four to ten years of related leadership experience in manufacturing environment, or equivalent combination of education and leadership in manufacturing environment experience might be considered for internal candidate.
