Job Summary: The Front Desk Attendant serves as our members’ first point of contact and manages all aspects of membership services. Responsibilities include customer and member services, providing information, selling merchandise and shakes, maintaining records, providing information regarding membership options and amenities and keeping the public areas clean.

Essential Functions (Major Duties or Responsibilities):

· Provide customer service to members and guests by greeting them; providing information about the gym, rates, classes, and amenities; checking in members and verifying memberships; and directing customers to specific facilities and services. Handle telephone calls including taking messages, checking voicemail, and transferring calls.

· Provide membership services including selling memberships, registering prospective members and guiding them to proper staff, providing information about training and classes, collecting payments, handling questions about membership changes or cancellations, and updating member records.

· Prepare shakes for members following established procedures and member preferences.

  • Record and maintain accurate records of all queries, complaints, lost property and repairs and provide information to the Assistant Manager or General Manager.
  • Serve as cashier by selling merchandise, taking money for activities, and accurately accounting for transactions at the end of each shift.
  • Perform light cleaning to maintain a clean and healthy environment, both behind and in front of the counter. Ensure the gym is clean throughout shift and complete cleaning checklists.

· Maintain adequate stocks of merchandise, information packets, and shake ingredients are available at reception for interested parties. Notify the General Manager of the need for additional supplies or merchandise.

· Ensure the safety and security of visitors, members and staff and maintain the premises and facilities of Fuel Fitness. Ensure only active members access the facility. Resolve routine customer issues or refer sensitive or controversial issues to the Assistant or General Manager.

Non-Essential Functions:

· Perform a variety of other duties as assigned that support the goals of Fuel Fitness. This includes identifying areas for growth and change, participating in meetings and attending training as directed.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions: The demands and conditions described here are representative of those the employee must meet to perform the essential functions of the job.

· Continual standing at the front desk.

· Required to reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, and some light occasional lifting (occasionally up to 45 pounds).

· Working on a computer and communicating with others in person and over the phone.

· Subject to frequent interruptions and a low to moderate noise level.

· Work in a gym environment with interaction with the public.

· Use of cleaning chemicals and supplies.

· Demonstrate customer service skills.

· Effective communication techniques, including active listening, asking clarifying questions and taking appropriate action.

· Organization, records management, and general office management.

· Be a contributing member on a successful team.

· Self-plan and organize a multitude of tasks and activities.

· Work effectively with stakeholders, vendors, and the public.

· Maintain a positive, upbeat demeanor and receive telephone calls and visitors politely.

· Effectively use computers and business software including member management software.

  • Successfully manage interpersonal conflict situations.

Education and Experience:

· Requires education and experience equivalent to some high school and previous customer service experience.

· Other combinations of education and experience are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $10.80 - $13.50 per hour
