The Functional Safety & Compliance Manager will define the regulatory requirements and drive the functional safety activities related to the development of ConMet’s eMobility products. This includes analysis of requirements by United States agencies such as FMVSS, FMCSA, EPA, eCFR along with “best practices” as it relates to electrification of vehicles. This role is responsible for establishing our Product Safety goals and working cross functionally to ensure the delivery of these goals for the eMobility Business.

This position is open due to key growth within eMobility and will be based at ConMet's corporate headquarters in Vancouver, Washington.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a robust and coherent product compliance program by researching, analyzing, selecting, and applying compliance engineering concepts, approaches, techniques and criteria
  • Support the Systems, Software and Hardware Teams in defining their architectures.
  • Support the development of safety requirements.
  • Create and review of relevant safety work products including specifications and reports.
  • Perform traceability analysis between different levels of the design.
  • Support Diagnostic Coverage evaluation.
  • Support verification and testing activities for Systems, Software and Hardware work products.
  • Conduct inductive and deductive Safety Analysis (including FMEA, FTA and DFA) at Systems, Software and Hardware Architecture levels.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering
  • Experience with systems design for embedded systems using a formal development process
  • Experience with hardware and software development for safety related systems.
  • Familiarity with IEC 61508, ISO 26262, DO178 or similar safety standards
  • Familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering and SysML
  • Strong knowledge of Safety Analysis methods: Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with other relevant standards including ISO 9001, A-SPICE
  • Electric motor and drive specific design and manufacture
  • Experience in commercial vehicle or automotive
  • Experience in managing and maintenance of JIRA & Confluence projects and content
  • Familiarity with the use of Dependent Failure Analysis (DFA) to ensure Freedom from Interference
  • Familiarity with APIS and Isograph Reliability Workbench FT+
  • Familiarity with requirements and configuration management
