POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Maintenance Lead is responsible for the repairs and preventative maintenance of company equipment associated with the Quilcene Hatchery. The Maintenance Lead will organize work priorities and schedules with the direction and assistance of the Hatchery Manager. More specific duties include the following:
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
- Perform diagnostic, repairs, and maintenance work on hatchery equipment including; Boilers, pumps, motors, blowers, controllers, hatchery plumbing and electrical in a timely manner.
- Report equipment in need of repairs to the manager.
- Coordinate, organize and assist in new build hatchery projects.
- Order supplies and parts to keep hatchery operating efficiently.
- Ensure employees follow all company safety, ECOP and HR policies.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Must be 21 years or older.
- 5+ years of experience in maintenance and mechanical related work strongly preferred.
- Formal training from an accredited technical college or trade school or completion on an equivalent multi-year apprenticeship program preferred.
- Ability to work independently and in teams with little direction.
- Must be self-motivated, well organized and detail oriented.
- Strong and sound decision-making skills.
- Excellent verbal/written skills.
- Must be able to read and understand; technical manuals, standard operating procedures, schematics.
- Availability to work: days, nights, weekends, on call, and travel, as needed.
- Ability to drive company vehicles and be insured on company insurance policy.
- Must complete and maintain in-house forklift and tractor trainings.
- May be required to work at other work sites/locations as needed.
- May be required to do other tasks as needed.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- The employee is required to stoop, bend, kneel, twist, squat, or stand for daily tasks.
- The employee needs to be able to lift up to 50 lbs., or 100 lbs. with assistance.
- The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to speak and hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and managers.
- Must be able to use hands for repetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation.
