Job description
The primary responsibility of the head athletic trainer is to provide patient care and administrative oversight within the sports medicine program. This position will provide day-today athletic training services in the collegiate sports medicine setting as well as oversee the administrative operations of the athletic department sports medicine program. The certified athletic trainer is charged with managing the health care of participating athletes. This includes, but is not limited to, first aid/emergency care, on-site injury evaluation, appropriate modalities, prevention and rehabilitation programs and medical referrals. This position is the primary caregiver for an assigned team as well as assisting with the departments athletic trainers in caring for other teams and works under the supervision of a team physician. The head athletic trainer will also provide administrative oversight to the school�s sports medicine program including scheduling, supply ordering, insurance management, medical record management, workflow management, and personnel supervision.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor�s degree from an accredited professional athletic training education program.
Experience: 4 years� experience as an Athletic Trainer. Previous experience in a supervisory role and collegiate setting preferred (experience may include internship as part of clinical education program).
Licensure/Certification: SC State Certification from the SC Athletic Trainers Advisory Committee must be obtained within 30 days of employment. National Certification from Board of Certification, Inc. (BOC) must be obtained prior to date of hire. Must have a current American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Provider Card. Valid SC Drivers license required to travel to schools and athletic events.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of all Athletic Training Domains from education program and NATABOC exam. Interpersonal skills required to work effectively with players, coaches, and other team personnel.
