Health Care Technician I**

  • These Health Care Technician I (HCT I) positions provide direct care services to individuals with I/DD that may have complex behavioral challenges and/or medical conditions whose clinical treatment needs exceed the level of care available in the community. Services are in the form of training, recreational outings and activities, daily living functions such as eating, hygiene and dressing as well as assistance with health-related duties, basic care and documentation. These positions also carry out programming goals that encourage independent functioning in all aspects of daily living.*
  • Staff will be trained on how to conduct care and activities. Role requires flexibility as staff employees may be assigned to work in other cottages to meet staffing needs. HCT I positions are typically given two leave days each week, but these days vary due to the seven (7) day per week operation of the Center. Weekend and Holiday work assignments are included in scheduling. Shift changes may be required for coverage.*

Murdoch is currently recruiting for a variety of full-time permanent and full-time time-limited positions in multiple cottages. A cottage tour will occur prior to hiring to ensure applicants and managers have discussed the work environment. We offer the following flexible shifts and pay additions for hours worked:

  • *Work Schedule **Shift Premium

1st Shift: 6:30am–3:00pm 5% Weekend Only*
2nd Shift 11:30am-8:00pm (Building Floater) 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
2nd Shift: 2:30pm–11:00pm 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend
3rd Shift: 10:45pm-6:45am 10% Weekday & 15% Weekend

Murdoch is currently recruiting for full-time permanent CAMPUS FLOATER positions on 2nd (2:30pm – 11:00pm) and 3rd (10:45pm – 6:45am) shifts. Floaters rotate on campus to fill in as needs are determined each shift.
Salary Grade: GN04 Recruitment Range: $31,200 - $40,450

Murdoch serves individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). Murdoch is a caring community where professionals work with people of various ages, cognitive and functional abilities. Ideal candidates will have worked in the healthcare field and had some experience with a special population but more than experience, should have good work ethics, be dependable and on-time for work in respect of co-workers and service to clients, and have a genuine desire to care for and improve the daily living of those who live in an institutional setting.*

  • Staff will have a 12 month probationary period during which training occurs in classroom, on unit and on-line settings that include First Aid, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting and specially developed training for working with intellectually disabled persons. Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.*
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements*

High school or General Educational Development diploma;

  • OR*
  • an equivalent combination of education and experience.*
  • Special Condition for Continued Employment As required, listing as a Nurse Aide I by the North Carolina Division of Health Service Regulation. As applicable, listing as a Nurse Aide II by the North Carolina Board of Nursing. As applicable, North Carolina Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification.*
  • Degrees must be from appropriately accredited colleges or universities.*
