The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD (“The HARRIS CENTER”) is looking for a Health Information Technician 2 to join our team. Under the general direction of the Director of Health Information Management this position is responsible for the scanning/auditing of medical records as part of a high volume scanning team. Ensures quality and accuracy are maintained during the scanning process. Demonstrates ability to recognize information inconsistencies and take appropriate action. Motivated to adapt in approach and demeanor to meet the shifting demands of different situations

What you will do:

• Responsible for the daily scanning of medical records as part of a high volume scanning team.
• Perform QA (audit) on processed documents to ensure accuracy.
• Maintain required logs.
• Data Entry
• Communicate effectively with co-workers.
• Able to manage significant work load, and to work efficiently under pressure meeting established deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Must possess high degree of accuracy, efficiency and dependability.
• Strong time management skills.
• Provides excellent customer service to customers in responding to inquiries.
• Perform other functions as assigned.

What qualifications you will need:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two (2) years of medical records experience to include experience with HIPPA laws and regulations related to medical records.
• Knowledge and understanding of medical record and documentation standards, organization and computerized processes with emphasis on attention to detail.
• The individual must possess effective oral and written communications skills and basic understanding, ability and aptitude in computer programs; file management, email and keyboarding.
