Summary:
The position is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of Health and Safety programs for Grifols Therapeutics at the Clayton, N.C. site.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assist in the H&S implementation and training programs across diverse workplace settings operating at the site including corporate offices and GMP facility
- Manage compliance activities associated with all applicable local, state and federal regulations related to H&S such as Hazard Communication, Chemical Safety and Bloodborne Pathogen Safety
- Manage chemical inventory tracking system and chemical hazard information
- Assist in developing and implementing ISO 45001 requirements
- Work with safety teams to promote a strong safety culture and implement safety initiatives
- Conduct incident investigations including root cause analysis and recommendations
- Conduct workplace walkthroughs and inspections
- Active member of the site Emergency Response Team
- Assist in the H&S reviewing, revising and implementation and auditing of the site's Control of Hazardous Energy Program
- Assist in reviewing/revising H&S procedures and their uploading into our document control system
Additional Responsibilities:
- Good understanding of OSHA, EH&S, local, state, federal regulations and policies pertaining to biological and chemicals
- Proven ability to develop and document processes and to write standard operating procedures
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strong computer skills
- Must possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
Requirements:
- B.S. degree in a relevant technical discipline (EH&S related field, chemistry or chemical engineering)
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Health and Safety role in a pharmaceutical or life sciences industry. 3+ years’ experience preferred
- Good understanding of OSHA, EH&S, local, state, federal regulations and policies pertaining to biological and chemicals
- Proven ability to develop and document processes and to write standard operating procedures
- Ability to review engineering drawings, process schematics, and design plans to identify EH&S risks.
- Strong computer skills
- Must possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills.
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate’s degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master’s degree with 2 years of experience
Occupational Demands:
Work is performed in an office and a laboratory/clinical environment. Exposure to Biological fluids with potential exposure to infectious organisms. Personal protective equipment required such as protective eyewear and gloves. Exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Color perception/discrimination required. Occasionally walks. Often performs duties standing. Occasionally bends and twists neck and waist. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Frequently drives to other facilities. Able to communicate complex information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Works with little need for guidance or reliance on oral or written instructions from management and plans work schedules to meet goals. Performs a wide range of tasks with little predictability of occurrence. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups. Must work with diverse groups to obtain consensus on issues.
