We are seeking a Child Nutrition Staff for an available contract opportunity to provide services for the Health Service Department at the Frisco Independent School District (FISD),TX.

Available Position: Child Nutrition Staff
BACKGROUND:
FISD is located approximately thirty miles north of Dallas, Texas and encompasses seventy-five square miles in Collin and Denton counties including most of the city of Frisco and portions of neighboring Plano, McKinney and Little Elm. FISD currently enrolls more than 64,000 students in 11 high schools, 17 middle schools, 42 elementary schools and 3 special programs schools. FISD has over eight thousand employees. Place of Performance:
5515 Ohio Drive, Frisco, TX 75035 USA

Work Schedule: Shifts start as early as 7 am, and can go as late as 3:30 pm. Employees may be scheduled 5, 6 or 7 hours/day.
Scope of Work:
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Food Preparation and Serving
1. Prepare quality food, using basic food production skills, according to a planned menu of tested and uniform recipes.
2. Serve food according to meal schedules and departmental policies and procedures.
3. Practice and promote portion control and proper use of leftovers.
4. Store and handle food items and supplies safely and according to established policies and procedures. Maintain a clean and organized storage/work area.

Safety and Sanitation
5. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety standards and follow established procedures to meet high standards of cleanliness, health and safety.
6. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
7. Maintain personal appearance and hygiene according to departmental policies and procedures.
8. Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when applicable as required by departmental policies and procedures
9. Follow and comply with FISD, city, state, and federal safety and sanitation guideline requirements.

Other
10. Record and maintain daily menu production tasks and information according to departmental policies and procedures.
11. Handle and record cashier functions accurately.
12. Promote teamwork and positive interaction with fellow staff members.
13. Comply with Frisco ISD and Child Nutrition Employee Handbooks.
14. Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Mental Demands / Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard large and small commercial kitchen equipment and tools including electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, sharp cutting tools, stove, oven, dishwasher, and food/utility cart
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
  • Motion: Continual walking; grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching/overhead reaching; occasional climbing (step stool/ladder)
  • Lifting: Frequent moderate lifting and carrying (up to 40 pounds)
  • Environment: Work inside in commercial kitchen environment; exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, extreme humidity, noise, vibration, microwaves, biological hazards (bacteria, mold, fungi), chemical hazards (fumes, vapors, gases), electrical hazards; work with hands in water and detergents; work around machinery with moving parts; work on slippery surfaces
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Requirements:
Food Handler Certification, customer service experience
