Cascade Health is seeking an experienced Physical Therapist Assistant to join the Home Health department. The Physical Therapist Assistant functions as a member of the Home Health team, providing patient care under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist in the patient’s place of residence. All care is given in accordance with physician’s orders. Follows the plan of care set by the physical therapist, implementing effective therapeutic interventions based on ongoing physical assessment, sound judgment, and psychological sensitivity. Understands the hospice philosophy and provides treatment to dying patients. Utilizes current standards of practice and follows departmental policies and procedures. Complies with applicable accreditation and regulatory requirements governing their practice. Maintains a high level of professional expertise and assumes responsibility for professional growth and development. Participates in the orientation of new employees. This position requires proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at time of offer.
Education & License Requirements: Current licensure in the State of Oregon as a Physical Therapist Assistant. Must have valid CPR card.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience: Home Health experience preferred and/or two years inpatient or outpatient experience. Must have current driver’s license, a licensed vehicle for transportation, and a means of communication. Desired skills include: High degree of written and verbal communication ability. Flexible, team player. Ability to adjust to changes in schedule on a daily basis. Good computer and time management skills.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist physical therapist in their essential job functions.
- Move and transfer patients, meeting safety needs.
- Administer treatments, working at a fast pace.
- Deliver patient and family education.
- Work independently utilizing time management skills.
- Exercise sound judgment.
- Use clinical equipment, take vital signs.
- Complete electronic patient care documentation
- Communicate clearly using verbal, electronic, and written skills.
- Participate in conferences, staff meetings, and in-services.
- Demonstrate strong organization skills with an ability to prioritize and delegate as needed.
- Perform CPR and respond to emergencies.
- Develop a good working relationship with referral sources.
- Negotiate terrain and physical obstacles to reach patients, safely drive a vehicle.
Marginal Job Functions: Answer phones, move furniture, equipment, and supplies. Light mechanics, instrument maintenance. Clerical duties including putting together charts. Post and access schedule.
