The Housekeeping Manager is responsible managing the overall day-to-day and long term operations of the housekeeping department including the upkeep of all the guestrooms, public spaces, and the outdoor surroundings. Establish and maintain a proven set of processes to assure the hotel is consistently clean taking personal responsibility and pride in both the execution and the results. Provide ongoing training and support for all employees in the housekeeping department. Uses leadership skills to drive revenue, maximize profit and ensure quality. Effective management of assigned staff to ensure achievement of overall financial results, guest satisfaction and positive employee relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Commit to “owning” the cleanliness of every element and aspect of the building with a critical eye for detail
  • Ensure all staff is properly trained and have the supplies and equipment needed to effectively carry out their job functions
  • Directs and works with employees to verify guestrooms, public space and employee areas are clean and well maintained
  • Verifies guest room status is communicated to the Front Desk in a timely and efficient manner
  • Inventories stock to verify adequate supplies
  • Supports and supervises an effective inspection program for all guestrooms and public space
  • Understands the impact of department's operations on the overall financial goals and objectives and manages to achieve or exceed budgeted goals
  • Communicates areas that need attention to staff and follows up to verify understanding
  • Supervises daily Housekeeping shift operations and verifies compliance with all housekeeping policies, standards and procedures
  • Assist with any housekeeping duties when need arise
  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints
  • Ensure effective and timely communication to all hotel guests and employees on issues, information and process
  • Participate in departmental and special committee meetings to contribute suggestions and feedback
  • Assigned other duties from General Manager

Required Experience:

  • High School or equivalent education required
  • Must have a minimum of three years housekeeping experience with at least one year in housekeeping management at a supervisory or manager level
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate effectively with community partners, vendors / external parties, and across internal divisions
  • A passion for the mission, vision, and values of Sherman Associates
  • Schedule may vary due to the specific needs of the hotel
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws regarding health and safety services
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Able to assist with any housekeeping tasks when required
  • Proficient Computer literacy with multiple systems
  • Excellent team leading and management skills
  • Able to handle any situation under pressure
  • Detailed and goal orientated with meeting deadlines
