Position Overview

USSTRATCOM/IO requires the Information Operations Planner to provide Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) to accomplish Information Operations as follows: Integrating USSTRATCOM’s Information Related Capabilities (IRCs) into the joint planning process; Coordinating and Synchronizing IRCs into a cohesive strategy to accomplish CCMD objectives; Planning and executing information operations to achieve CCMD objectives; and Assisting in the analysis and preparation of the operational environment.


Essential Job Function

  • Planning: Provide A&AS to accomplish Information Operations support for the following: (a) assist in planning support to USSTRATCOM for deliberate, crisis action, and exercise planning; (b) mission analysis to support IO planning; (c) course of action development; (d) war gamming; (e) integration with the intel community; (f) support the development of strategic and operational plans, contingency plans, operations orders, execution orders, fragmentary orders, staff estimates, concepts of support, and strategic operational analysis reports; (g) support development and maintenance of policy, planning and analytic products.
  • May be required to perform travel to various locations within the Continental United States (CONUS); the Government anticipates approximately two (2) trips per calendar year. May be required to travel as a passenger on military transportation into non-hostile areas to perform tasks.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requisite personnel qualifications for all tasks:
  • Critical thinking skills, both qualitatively and quantitatively
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to prepare a well-grounded, defensible argument
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with USSTRATCOM organization is desired
  • Shall establish and maintain working relationships with relevant internal and external organizations to foster open lines of communications.
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a military IO professional as either a generalist or as an information related capabilities expert with experience planning/synchronizing/coordinating effects.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of joint warfighting doctrine, unified command structure, joint planning process, and global command and control constructs with application to joint IO.
  • Must have one of the following:
  • Joint Information Operations Planner’s Course,
  • Information Operations Qualification Course,
  • Information Operations Orientation Course,
  • MAGTF Information Operations Practitioners Course (Intermediate or Advanced),
  • IO Capabilities Application and Planning Course,
  • Psychological Operations Qualification Course,
  • Navy Information Operations Planning Course,
  • AF IO Initial Skills Course
  • Shall be a United States citizen
  • Shall possess at time of task order award: a final Top Secret (TS) security clearance with eligibility for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
