Job Title: Mailing Inserter Operator

Reports To: Finishing Manager

Job Description: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Location: Minneapolis, MN

Shift: Monday-Friday 2pm-10pm

Purpose of Position:

A Mailing Inserter Operator makes ready and uses Inserting and Inkjet equipment to gather, insert and address mail envelope packages in preparation for USPS delivery. They follow Standard Operating Procedures, customer requirements, and USPS regulations. Inserter Operators perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on equipment. They also train and monitor Mailing Helpers to achieve consistent performance and product quality.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Set up, adjust and operate all Inserter equipment (high speed and swing arm)

· Set up, adjust and operate accumulating folder.

· Set up, adjust and operate inkjet equipment installed on the inserter.

· Set up, adjust and operate Camera system and maintain 100% match when job specifications require matching pieces.

· Read and interpret written job tickets or other job specifications containing product requirements.

· Complete an Inserter checklist for each job. Secure supervisor sign-off of Inserter image before processing job.

· Maintain a working knowledge of postal sorting, traying, sacking, and palletizing mail procedures.

· Examine product frequently to ensure that it meets customer quality specifications. Checks for proper inserting order, folding specifications, scratches, smearing, proper line layout, OEL, name, address, CSZ and other quality defects.

· Perform cleaning and maintenance as scheduled on assigned machine to ensure its optimum operation.

· Pull and inspect run samples and notify Finishing Manager in the event quality standards are not being met.

· Adjusts conveyor belt to shingle mail pieces neatly and in order.

· Stack containers on a skid and keeps track of total container count.

· Move product around using a pallet jack or power dolly, transfer materials to different locations as needed.

· Complete paperwork and reports related to job function, report any problems to supervisor.

· Adhere to and promote all safety policies and procedures, making sure work area is hazard free and orderly

· Perform other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Skills and Abilities:

· Understand mailing specifications, including class, categories of mail pieces, and mail piece design requirements.

· Use hand tools or machines needed to perform operations appropriately and safely.

· Read e-job tickets, job information, diagrams or drawings of items to be produced, purchased, maintained or repaired.

· Work on machinery with great precision and accuracy.

· Make sound decisions and resolve problems using facts, experience, problem-solving tools and personal judgment.

· Adapt to changing situations.

· Visualize what the finished product will look like.

· Accept responsibility for the accuracy of the product produced.

· Accept responsibility for the efficiency of the production process.

· Able to recognize and observe the need for confidentiality both inside and outside the Company.

Requirements:

This job description requires Low risk/Low Security data attention.

Physical Demands:

Requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire shift. Necessitates frequent lifting and carrying of materials up to 40 pounds and on occasion, more. To move objects by lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Requires the ability to bend and twist at the waist, stoop or crouch, and kneel on an occasional basis. Occasionally requires reaching, handling, and hand-to-eye coordination. Vision requirements include near acuity, far acuity, depth perception, full field of vision, and 100% color vision.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour
