Position: The College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) at the University of Montevallo is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure track clinical instructor to successfully support the implementation of a new Family and Consumer Sciences, Hospitality and Tourism concentration within the Department of Health and Human Sciences. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in hospitality and tourism, supervising and coordinating fieldwork and internships, research, and university and professional service. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, or online courses.
Overview of FCS Program: A key goal of the Family and Consumer Sciences program is to be a recognized leader in the retail, hospitality, and tourism fields, promoting student career development and industry alliances through innovative coursework supported by a strong liberal arts foundation, scholarship, outreach, and professional experiences. The multidisciplinary Family and Consumer Sciences degree program includes specific concentrations in (1) retail merchandising; (2) human development and family studies; (3) FCS Education; and newly developed (4) hospitality and tourism. The program is fully accredited through the American Association for Family and Consumer Sciences.
Our Campus: The University of Montevallo is Alabama’s only public liberal arts institution. Located approximately 30 miles South of Birmingham, Alabama, the University of Montevallo (UM) serves approximately 2,500 students annually. Montevallo offers undergraduate and graduate programs across the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, Education, and Fine Arts. The UM College of Education and Human Development (UM CEHD) currently supports approximately 425 undergraduate and 300 graduate students. Comprised of two departments with 28 full-time faculty, the College offers bachelors, masters, and educational specialist degrees.
