PURPOSE:

The primary purpose of this position is to assist Silver State Schools Credit Union to live out its Mission, "Excellent Member Service and Financial Solutions - For Life," by providing outstanding service to both members and internal members.

SUMMARY:

Overall managerial responsibility for IT staff, operations, and related activities such as output production, and availability of system resources. Responsible for administration, staffing, planning, organizing, and directing the daily activities of computer operations personnel. Also responsible for implementing or overseeing the implementation of new systems and/or programs designed to meet management's information needs, reduce processing time and costs, and to interface programs and systems with the computer hardware. Also responsible for all hardware issues and special projects.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

People Management - Assess, manage, and evaluate the staffing requirements, positions, and salary administration for all Information Technology staff. Be able to perform the following minimal duties, including:

  • Develop operations schedule, assigns work to staff, and establishes staff scheduling to cover key hours of operations.
  • Perform regular review of staff work performances and meeting
  • required credit union performance evaluation deadlines.
  • Deal promptly with people issues and concerns.
  • Ensure staff is meeting deadlines for all required company training
  • Conduct regular meeting with staff to keep them updated on promotions, incentives, new products, and IT objectives
  • Conduct regular one on ones with staff to ensure they are on track to
  • meeting their yearly goals.
  • Ensure timesheets are completed and signed off on every week.
  • Enforcement of all dress code and employee handbook policies.


IT Operations - Assess and Manage the following areas of IT operations and to ensure staff is supporting SSSCU users with excellent service:

  • Oversees and directs the daily operations of the IT department as it pertains to ticketing, help desk, hardware, and daily issue resolution.
  • Identifies and helps AVP of IT design organization's strategic and long-term goals.
  • Oversees administration of Service Level Agreement as it pertains to IT operations.
  • Work closely with other IT staff in an efficient and effective manner to reach department goals.
  • Work with core system vendor, core system, and internal staff to resolve new and outstanding issues.
  • Direct testing of all new releases of core financial systems and make users aware of new features.
  • Ensure staff is responding promptly to service requests such as; hardware troubleshooting, repair, and configuration changes
  • Maintain competency in current technology and its applications for the benefit of end users.
  • Maintain relationships with key IT vendors/business partners.
  • Provide direction to operations staff as to any special operational conventions to ensure accuracy and timely daily processing.
  • Lead large IT projects, including the design and deployment of new IT systems and services
  • Overseeing and determining timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations, and outages
  • Monitor performance of information technology systems to determine cost and productivity levels, and to make recommendations for improving the IT infrastructure
  • Ensure IT documentation is up to date and accurate for items such as; IT policy and procedures, change log, inventory, topologies and/or diagrams
  • 24 hours on call contact for unplanned events and scheduled maintenance.

IT Security - Responsible for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of IT security systems for the credit union.

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and training to information systems security personnel
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to organizational technology and security projects.
  • Assess current technology architecture for vulnerabilities, weaknesses and for possible upgrades or improvement
  • Oversee information security audits, whether performed by organization or third-party personnel
  • 24 hours on call contact for security alerts/threats.
  • Ensure audit trails, system logs and other monitoring data sources are reviewed periodically and comply with policies and audit requirements.
  • Perform vulnerability and penetration tests across all network segments
  • Prevent and detect intrusion by administering security systems such as firewalls and IDS
  • Lead team in responding promptly to security incidents and provide thorough post-event analysis.
  • Analyze problems, recommend solutions, products, and technologies to meet business objectives
  • Stay knowledgeable on topics in cybersecurity by researching emerging trends, technologies, threats, and vulnerabilities


System Management;

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and training to system administrators
  • Oversight of server infrastructure to maintain uptime and reliability of services
  • Develop strategies for client/server implementations; architect the infrastructure required to support those strategies.
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in key process improvements as they relate to the client/server environment.
  • Act as project lead in the design and review of new server systems, applications, and hardware; conduct capacity planning as needed.
  • Ensure availability, reliability, and scalability of corporate servers to meet business demands.
  • Define and maintain server backup and recovery procedures.
  • Oversee server upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches.
  • Manage enterprise directory services and supporting server infrastructure.
  • Monitor and test system performance and provide performance statistics and reports.
  • Establish and implement policies, procedures to ensure server security and hardening.
  • Recommend and execute modifications to server environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Conduct research on server hardware, software, and protocols in support of development efforts.

VMware Administration;

  • Oversee and manage VMware environment such as balancing virtual machine resources across hosts in the clusters, configure and manage virtual guests, troubleshoot, and resolve ESXi issues.
  • Providing direct technical support for the planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, or changes to server, storage, and virtualization systems
  • Ensuring stable performance for the server, storage, and virtualization environments through performance monitoring and tuning
  • Recommend and execute modifications to server environment to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance.
  • Planning, designing, and developing appropriate standards and strategies for a VMware infrastructure across an entire organization.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve VMware related issues and problems in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Design and deploy VMware virtual guests and traditional Windows server environments.
  • Configure VMware and Windows environments to ensure their smooth and reliable operation
  • Collaborate with various levels of management and department leaders to assess near- and long-term capacity needs.
  • Create and maintain documentation as it relates to VMware configuration, VMware mapping, processes/procedures, service records and standards.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain, policies, procedures, and associated training plans for VMware administration, usage, and disaster recovery.
  • Conduct research on VMware and Microsoft related products, services, protocols, and standards to remain abreast of developments in the industry.
  • Develop planning for and oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.


Network Management;

  • Providing leadership, guidance, and training to network administrators
  • Oversight of network to ensure uptime and reliability of services
  • Troubleshoot all LAN/WAN network issues and manage communications with ISP business support while troubleshooting WAN issues
  • Implement, maintain, and support current and future LAN/WAN network technologies
  • Proactive monitoring and network performance analysis to improve availability, utilization and bandwidth usage
  • Oversee all network documentation to include topologies, hardware configuration setting, listings of subnets, VLANs, and circuit IDs
  • Performs proactive maintenance to determine possible bottlenecks and security issues.
  • Develops test plans and procedures for installation and upgrades.
  • Oversee all network setups for new facilities.

Secondary Duties: IT Manager will work closely with the IS Manager and be required to manage all areas and direct reports assigned to the IS Manager when necessary. Listed below are areas the IT Manager will be responsible for as needed.

Application Management - Responsible for assisting in planning, coordinating, and troubleshooting activities around the IS team.

  • Provides continuous feedback to the AVP of IT regarding priorities and status of work being performed within the IS team
  • Is recognized as the subject matter expert in assigned applications and system administration. Inspects work for exactness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Maintains availability to assist in troubleshooting and providing support to consistently meet or exceed SLA's
  • Manage and guide testing of applications using appropriate methodologies and tools to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operations
  • Coordinate work of the team on a weekly and daily basis, ensuring effective prioritization, planning, assignment of tasks and high-quality execution
  • Provide 2nd line of support on complex internal and external service issues and requests that have been escalated by the team
  • Provides workflow and technical support for projects to ensure project tasks are met on time and within budget
  • Ensures IS team follow through on assigned projects and tasks and delegates support issues to the appropriate staff
  • Oversee all application upgrades, maintenance fixes, and vendor-supplied patches and ensure all applications are up to date and running as expected.

VOIP System;

  • Oversees all aspects if credit union telecommunication system(s).
  • Analyzes telecommunication needs from both user and technical points of view.
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain telecommunication equipment and services.
  • Identify future telecommunication technology opportunities and their application to the business.
  • Manage all call flows to support the needs of departments and call menus
  • Administer add, moves, changes to telecommunication systems
  • Maintain and audit telecommunication user and device accounts on a regular basis
  • Manage all help desk tickets to ensure all telecommunication issues are prioritized and responded to as appropriate.
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation for telecommunication system.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, MIS or similar field; plus 5 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working experience as an IT manager or relevant experience
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation
  • Ability to manage personnel
