Job description

Maintaining security and control of Deaf Smith County Jail in Hereford, Texas as a Jailer/Corrections Officer. Must be able to work around inmates, and follow rules and regulations.

Starting yearly salary: $40,111

Yearly salary upon completion of 6 month training and licensing: $41,964

Certificate Pay: (Additional Pay)

• Basic Jailer- $2,000 a year in addition to salary (Acquired by all staff after 1 year of employment)
• Intermediate Jailer- $3,000 a year in addition to salary
• Advanced Jailer- $4,000 a year in addition to salary
• Master Jailer- $5,000 a year in addition to salary

Uniform Allowance: $2,160 a year

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18.
• Be a U.S. citizen
• Be of good moral character.
• Be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Be able to work the hours required of shift work.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Possess a valid Texas driver's license with good driving history.
• No Felony or Class "A" Misdemeanor convictions on Criminal History.
• No Class "B" convictions in the past 10 years on Criminal History.
