Job Summary:
The Landscape Maintenance Crew Lead is responsible for leading a landscape maintenance crew of up to 4 members to perform landscape maintenance services throughout Des Moines and surrounding areas. The Crew Lead is responsible for promoting jobsite safety, completing jobs with great efficiency while providing excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Operations Manager and Sales team.
- Lead crew members in performing landscape services including: planting, mulching, maintenance, weeding, insect & pest control and fall & spring cleanups.
- Represent the company’s best interest, maintain the highest level of integrity and professionalism.
- Always maintain a clean and safe jobsite.
- Manage crew effectively and efficiently to produce an excellent and profitable product.
- Teach and train crew members to ensure proper procedures, processes and quality of work are followed and achieved.
- Monitor company equipment, tools, and vehicles for needed maintenance.
- Forecast equipment, labor and material needs to ensure efficient production.
- Direct, oversee and participate in work performed by your team. This is a hands-on position and requires this person to perform work activities alongside their team.
- Understand and meet production and project schedule deadlines without sacrificing great customer service or excellent quality.
- Complete daily activity reports and timesheets and submit daily.
- Attend training classes and educational seminars as requested by management.
- Reports for duty at designated location on time each day.
- Supervises and manages maintenance crew to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensures that all safety rules and company safety policies are adhered to.
- Ensures that all work is performed in accordance to industry and company standards.
- Collaborate with landscape manager and design/sales staff to ensure project is installed on-schedule, within budget and in accordance to design and specifications.
- Interacts with clientele in order to ensure job satisfaction.
- Manage equipment and tool maintenance.
- Trains and develops crew members in best practices of industry and company standards.
- Follows directions from landscape supervisor.
- Communicates well with crew members, management and clientele.

- Perform other duties as related or assigned in all service areas of Wright Outdoor Solutions including: arbor care, plant health care, exterior maintenance, mowing, holiday lights and snow removal.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years experience in Landscape maintenance industry.
- General horticulture knowledge.
- Iowa Commercial Pesticide Applicators License or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
- Must be self-motivated and possess strong leadership skills.
- Must be professional in appearance and actions.
- Must be detail oriented and quality driven.
- Must be well organized with strong communication skills and ability to multi-task.
- Must have the ability to be proactive, plan ahead and problem solve to minimize disruption, errors, risks and to keep project on-task, within budget and on-schedule.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to work flexible hours including overtime, weekends and during adverse weather conditions as warranted by workload and schedule.
- Ability to read and interpret daily work orders.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in operating landscape equipment.
- Valid Iowa driver’s license and a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Ability to cope with a physically demanding job.
