Position Summary

Perform professional and technical library work in one or more specific library programs such as Adult, Teens, Youth, Reference Services, or Library Systems Administration. The Library Associate delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers.

Located in the historic Myers Park neighborhood of Mecklenburg County, Myers Park Branch Library serves local families and a dedicated library user base. The Library Associate position at Myers Park Branch will join an experienced team. This position delivers a high level of quality library services ensuring the provision of value-added experiences for all customers and performs routine tasks in support of the library. This position is a leader in our circulation department, will represent our branch at Access Services meetings and will serve as a manager on duty on an as needed basis

Essential Functions
Perform circulation activities
Provide service desk coverage
Create and deliver programs to age-appropriate audiences
Prepare program reports
Provide research assistance to customers
Utilize integrated library systems software
Assist customers at several service points
Train and assist customers on various library policies, procedures, and processes
Maintain library’s collection of materials
Assist with volunteer management
Promote and markets library’s programs; collaborating with Marketing and Communication to generate flyers and materials pertaining to programs

Minimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimum of two years of library, retail, computer, or customer service experience
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Licenses and Certifications N/A

Preferred Qualifications
Associates degree
Knowledge of integrated library systems software (IE: Horizon)
Bilingual
At least three years of library, customer service and/or administrative experience
