Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Library Technician I, for the Rutgers Biomedical and Health Services (RBHS) Health Sciences Libraries Department at Rutgers University Libraries. Under the direction of the Managing Librarian, the Library Technician I performs a wide range of duties, both technical and service oriented, in the InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Department. Coordinates the library’s ILL services, fills ILL requests, DOCLINE requests, and Document Delivery requests. Provides services, information, guidance, and assistance to library users.

- Maintains a sound knowledge of all ILL functions, including digitization, NLM’s DOCLINE services, Rutgers internal and external ILL services.
- Analyzes all requests for completeness and errors, decides appropriate methods to fulfill requests and delivery.
- Fulfills daily requests from ILLiad platform. Prints requests, locates resources, digitizes the requested resources and uploaded files to Smith Digitization shared folder, delivers the scanned file to users.
- Monitors DOCLINE transactions and NLM’s EFTS system. Make sure charges are billed and received via EFTS.
- Participates in the creation and updating of Smith Library ILL Service and Operation LibGuide, including ILLiad, DOCLINE, NLM EFTS, and other ILL procedure manuals.
- Performs back-up duties in all areas of ILL Department. Covers ILL functions in the absence of other ILL staff.
- Maintains good communication with colleagues to ensure workflow is not interrupted and timely delivery of ILL requests is guaranteed.

Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Must be able to lift boxes of print materials up to 20 lbs.
- Ability to push library materials on book trucks throughout the library.
Special Conditions
Work Hours: Monday to Thursday 3:30pm to 11pm and Friday 2:30pm to 10pm.
