Salary: "Please note that the job posting rates for this position are $46,478.95 to $53,335.67, the salary offered will follow the starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. However, a salary may be negotiated above the minimum range depending on applicable years of experience and qualifications."

General Description


Under the supervision of the Program Director for TCOOMMI programs, the LPHA Intake Specialist performs advanced (senior-level) psychological work. Work involves coordinating psychological testing, programming, diagnosing, counseling, reporting, and research. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Responsibilities and functions are as follows: programmatic functions to help the team meet the TCOOMMI Programs Guidelines and Processes (PGPs) and contract requirements to include other regulatory agencies; clinical functions that involve consultation with Rehabilitation Teachers, crisis intervention and assessments, counseling such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy to include case management and skills when needed, interdisciplinary team consultations and team meetings, and diagnostics; oversight of referrals, screenings, and intakes to include caseload size and contact hours. May serve as the Program Director designee. Provide other duties as needed. Travel to sites and may travel out of town for training and meetings. Maintain clear TCIC/NCIC and driving record.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's Degree from accredited college or university with major in counseling, psychology, social work or other field related to human behavior.
  • Licensed as a LPC, LCSW, or LMHT.
  • One (1) year working experience with referrals, screening assessments and evaluations, intakes, diagnostics, and counseling. Related work experience may substitute for the required work experience.
  • Texas Driver's license and good driving record. Must have proof of liability insurance for vehicle/self.
  • Have clear criminal and TCIC/NCIC background check.

Preferred: Bilingual, English/Spanish

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • In the course of being employed, understands and implements trauma informed care practices
  • Knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques, assessment techniques and tools, and documentation requirements
  • Knowledge of psychiatric diagnoses, psychological assessment, treatment planning, and provision of rehabilitative services and CBT.
  • Knowledge of individuals with mental illness who are involved in the criminal justice system.
  • Computer literate and able to type 55 wpm or more and be proficient with the use of Microsoft and Excel.
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision of unlicensed staff.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, and organizational skills to meet the demands of a contract program.
