Job description
Valley Community Services Board is seeking an LPN for an outpatient behavioral healthcare setting providing services for mental health, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. Applicants should have the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment and the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams of providers, consumers, and physicians. This position is fulltime, scheduled Monday – Friday 8:15 am -4:45 p.m., with benefits
- Health insurance as low as $21.16/month for individuals. Family and dependent plans are also available.
- Sign-on bonus of $1,500, included in full with the first paycheck.

Essential Functions
- Prepares the patient for the physician visit, which may include VS assessment.
- Completes nursing assessment for side effects, which may include performing AIMS.
- Provides consumer/family education regarding medications, symptom management and other relevant clinical needs.
- Obtains specimens through venipuncture or other indicated method.
- Follows up on no shows or cancelled appointments by contacting client and assisting in rescheduling.
- Performs nursing assessments in-between physician visits at the direction of the physician to check on medication’s changes and symptom management.
- Performs functions related to medication administration.
- Assists with telephone triage within Medical Services.
- Maintains a positive, professional working relationship with consumers, family members, agency staff, and community providers
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of:
- Psychotropic and general pharmacology.
- State and federal laws governing drugs.
- Psychiatric, substance abuse and intellectual diagnoses and their basic treatment modalities.
- Basic psychopathology and physiopathology.
- Standards of nursing practice and scope of practice for your profession according to your governing Board of Nursing.
- Effective intervention strategies for consumers with chronic mental illness and other disabilities and professional behaviors.
Skills pertaining to:
- Venipuncture
- Medication administration and documentation of medications.
- Basic computer use, including use of Electronic Health Records.
Ability to:
- Maintain the highest integrity in working with controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.
- Work independently
- Develop genuine and therapeutic relationships with consumers
- Ability to community in English, both written and oral
