As an Operator I, your primary duties include operating heavy equipment as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Follows prescribed safety regulations
- Ensure that all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in the assigned area
- Performs routine maintenance, including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning
- Observes equipment operation to detect machine malfunction
- Follows work plans and pre-task cards
- Other duties and responsibilities related to the nature of the job may be assigned on a temporary or permanent basis as needed
- Operates the following equipment based on the requirements of the project:
- Blade
- Dozer
- Roller
- GPS Experience
- Track Hoe
- Main Line
- Any other equipment as needed

Qualifications
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Detail orientation
- Ability to move levers, shift gears, depress pedals, and maneuver the steering wheel to operator equipment
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, crouch, kneel, climb and periodically lift up to 50 lbs
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts
- Knowledge of equipment and their uses
- Understand and apply basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, & multiplication)
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Ability to work independently
Education and Experience Requirements
- Equipment certifications as required
- A minimum of five years of related experience
- Must possess a valid driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law
Compensation and Benefits Information
- Compensation range: $19/hour - $39/hour, dependent on qualifications and experience
