Full Time, Monday-Friday 2:30pm- 11:00pm. 40 hours/week.

Pay Range is between $22.55-$32.82/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. **Range include evening differential** +$2.50/hr for weekend shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs necessary duties to maintain the physical plant and associated equipment of the hospital in good repair. Minor electrical work, mechanical repairs, preventative maintenance and other duties relating to the maintenance of the facility are the primary duties. Performs on-call mechanic duties on a rotational basis.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education or Formal Training

Trade/technical or vocational training is desired

Special Qualifications (Licensure, Registration, etc.)

Valid Colorado driver’s license

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

Knowledge

  • Heating, air conditioning (spot and central systems)
  • Electrical equipment and systems
  • Fuel and steam systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Use and maintenance of plant tools and equipment
  • Standard safety procedures
  • Minor carpentry repairs
  • Auto mechanics

Skill

  • Read, comprehend, and interpret instructions obtained from blueprints, schematic diagrams and technical manuals.
  • Make decisions based on good judgement, hospital priorities, cost effectiveness, patient and staff safety and compliance with local, state and federal and related regulatory agencies.

Ability

  • To diagnosis problems relating to facilities and equipment using past experience, visual and auditory inputs.
  • To perform mechanical repair using hand tools, powered equipment and mechanical/electrical testing devices.
  • To perform assigned tasks of position without more than normal supervision.
  • To give simple instructions to others in the performance of tasks.
  • To be available day, evening or night shifts as assigned.
  • To perform duties in an accurate and precise manner.
  • To perform duties in an accurate and precise manner during crisis and emergency situations when time is critical.
  • Experience
  • 3 years previous maintenance experience desired.
  • Experience in a health care environment desired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Repairs leaking faucets and drains.
  • Repairs diaphragm and float type toilets.
  • Installs minor equipment, (i.e. pictures, mirrors, bulletin boards, soap dispensers)
  • Performs minor repairs to hospital beds.
  • Adjusts door closures.
  • Changes filters in air handling units.
  • Responsible for preventive maintenance in assigned area.
  • Keeps records and logs of work performed.
  • Performs minor electrical repairs.
  • Performs urgent corrective, routing and requisitioned minor repairs
  • Orders parts and supplies necessary to position functions
  • Diagnose system malfunctions on mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintains appropriate records to ensure compliance with state, federal and Joint Commission regulations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

  • Physical requirements may be met with the aid of mechanical devices. These are minimally necessary for the safe completion of duties:
  • Carry and manipulate equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.
  • Exposure to disagreeable environmental conditions, including dirt, noise, heights, cramped working spaces.
  • Tasks where caution must be exercised to ensure safety.
  • Good vision.
  • Good hearing.
  • Fully mobile on steps and ladders.
  • Sufficient mobility and dexterity of both arms to safely operate hand and power tools, gauges, values, etc.
