Job description
The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for managing the insurance billing process, posting payments, collections, account follow up, insurance appeal and resubmission process.
Required Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- General knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT Codes
- Minimum 5 years customer service experience
- 2 years of progressive responsibility in billing duties in a hospital, clinic, physician office, or equivalent.
- Must have experience with high claim call volume
- Proficiency using automated billing system
- Must be proficient in the knowledge of computers and database systems
- Must be proficient in full revenue cycle medical billing
Primary Duties
- Claims management and evaluation of payments, denials, and appeals
- Posting of insurance payments and/or denials to all patient accounts
- Review of outstanding receivables and correspondence/ make appropriate action
- Perform various billing and collection functions to ensure accurate and timely claim processing
- Ensure all documentation is accurately entered into database and billing system
- Other duties as assigned
