***Medical Records Clerk ***
Responsibilities:
A Day in the Life of a Medical Records Clerk
As a Medical Records Clerk (Opthalmology), you will be responsible for providing excellent patient care while abiding by all HIPAA laws and regulations in a doctor's office setting. Your role is to gather patient demographic and personal information. You will be pulling charts daily and restocking charts. You will be issuing medical files to persons and agencies according to laws and regulations. You will be helping with departmental audits and investigations. You will be distributing medical charts to appropriate departments. You will have to maintain quality and accurate records. You will be ensuring patient charts, paperwork, and reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner. You will also be ensuring that all medical records are protected and kept confidential. You will be filing all patients' medical records and information. You will be supplying the patient and the office with the appropriate documents and forms. You will be scanning information into EMR. You will be faxing information to other medical offices as requested. You will be collecting requests for medical records and processing them in a timely fashion. You will also be processing patient requests for medical records copies in a timely fashion. This position is located in Newport News, VA 23606.

Requirements for the Medical Records Clerk:
- Required: At least 1-year experience as a Medical Records Clerk.
- Required: Ability to pass Background Check and Drug Screen
- Required: Must be reliable and a quick learner and have the ability to multi-task with accuracy in a very busy environment
- Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills
