Job Description: Aldersgate United Methodist Church is a community in pursuit of a deeper relationship with God in Christ through the ministries of warm fellowship, joyful worship, faith-filled discipleship, compassionate missions, and enthusiastic outreach. Aldersgate United Methodist Church is seeking a part-timeWorship Leader. This person should be a committed follower of Jesus Christ who has a strong foundation in hymns and contemporary Christian music and the ability to:

• Proficiently play piano/keyboard
• Lead the Worship Band and congregation on keys; vocal leadership a plus
• Meet quarterly with the Worship Committee
• Lead music for:
• Weekly Sunday morning worship
• Special services: Holy Thursday and Christmas Eve

Hours: This position requires_ 3 hours in person on Sundays, plus 3-5 hours prep time per week_. The hours include Sunday morning rehearsal that is followed by the morning worship service. The Worship Leader is expected to be present for worship each Sunday, with the exception of vacation and illness.

Duties:

• Organize and lead music ministry of the church in coordination with the Pastor and the worship committee
• Weekly music selection according to sermon and seasonal theme
• Organize and direct necessary rehearsals to prepare for upcoming worship services
• Lead the congregation and Worship Band in active worship
• Learn new music as needed and show an enthusiasm for engaging the members of Aldersgate UMC
• Maintain all music in an efficient manner
• Participate in the life of the church, being intentional about getting to know and be known by the congregation and inviting participation in the music ministry
• Possess a knowledge of copyright laws and CCLI reporting
• Option to play for funerals and weddings as requested and available on a “fee-for-service” basis

Qualifications:

• Follower of Jesus Christ that values and demonstrates the highest ideals of Christian living
• Musical proficiency demonstrated in piano; vocals are a plus
• Ability to read music (includes standard notation or charts)
• Strong foundation of traditional and contemporary church music
• Fluency with google drive and electronic file sharing a plus
• Prior experience in working with volunteer musicians
• Ability to work with all ages and talent levels with an encouraging approach
• Excellent time management, people, and communication skills
• Completion of a background check
• Possess a positive outlook, sense of humor, and the ability to be flexible
