This is a full-time, 37.5 hour per week, on-site
SCOPE OF WORK: Partnering with CMC and Elliot Hospital, the Network4Health Career Advisor/Coach is responsible for connecting participants in the Medical Assistant, Licensed Nursing Assistant and Patient Service Representatives programs with local resources to assist with college and career planning and to provide assistance as needed to increase retention and completion of training programs. The Network4Health Career Advisor/Coach reports to the MCC Director of Workforce Development.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work as part of the MCC Workforce Development team to support employees of Catholic Medical Center and Elliot Health System in their career development.
- Advise employees on how to grow their careers at each hospital as well as support employees in pursuing academic credentials that can help them achieve their career goals. Advisor will partner with student-employees to facilitate the development of academic and professional development planning that incorporates intentional career planning and exploration, experiential learning, and engagement with networks and communities through high-quality advising and coaching.
- Connect employees to free pre-college and college courses as well as free English for Speakers of Other Language (ESOL) courses offered to employees.
- Support employees in persisting in programs and will track employee participation.
- Counsel individuals to help them think through whether a career path is a good fit for them, assess whether they can commit the time and effort needed to be successful in a program.
- Report regularly to CMC and EHS human resources departments (when applicable) on progress against program goals.
- Continually assesses program performance and recommends ways to improve program delivery.
- Monitor employee progress, intervenes with additional supports when necessary and appropriate.
- Create marketing and informational materials; Answer program related questions, assist with recruitment and marketing, and understanding all facets of program offerings
- Provide support for successful program implementation and functioning

- Engage in effective practices in academic and career advising.
- Advocate for students while enforcing institutional policies and regulations
- Communicate regularly with students through various mediums to provide guidance and support in areas related to academics, career, experiential education and through periods of academic difficulty
- Respond to student inquiries from point of contact to resolution; follow up on referrals.
- Make appropriate referrals to on campus and off campus services as appropriate to student needs
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management
- Complies with all system, college, campus, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university with major study in Business, education, public administration, or other related field. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work.
Experience: Three (3) years’ experience in an academic or student affairs/student services environment or in human resources or corporate recruiting or related area; Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of work experience.
License/Certification: Valid driver’s license for travel throughout the state.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in a service or leadership role such as an academic advisor/counselor/ coach/ human resources/client or customer service professional or similar capacity preferred. Bilingual preferred.

Considerable knowledge of the principles of administrative work. General knowledge of current literature in specialized field of work. Ability to perform research. Ability to write technical information and prepare in-depth reports. Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form and to speak before groups. Ability to detect and define problem areas and causes, and to develop effective solutions, including the exercise of sound judgement in evaluating situations, planning action, making decisions, and setting priorities. Ability to work independently and coordinate planning activities. Ability to provide leadership. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with college officials, employees, community based organization and school personnel, and the general public. Must be willing to maintain appearance appropriate to assigned duties and responsibilities as determined by the college’s appointing authority.
