JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, the Nursing Assistant gives direct basic nursing care to patients (from the pediatric to the geriatric client).

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
Upholds the hospital mission, philosophy, standards, policies/procedures and patient bill of rights.
Receives report from personnel on preceding shift and Registered Nurse and reports throughout shift to Registered Nurse.
Performs basic nursing practices and/or treatments to assigned patients (utilizing infection control policies and procedures as appropriate) in a manner that demonstrates clinical competency.
Collects and records pertinent patient data on the admission record as directed by the nurse and according to policy and reports the information to the appropriate Registered Nurse.
Demonstrates concern for patients’ welfare at all times. Responsible for clean and safe environment (e.g., room/area of assigned patients).
Assists the nurse in preoperative and postoperative patient care.
Performs, as directed, functions necessary to meet food/fluid elimination needs of assigned patients.
Collects, labels, and transports/delivers specimens, as assigned, in a safe and timely manner.
Assists in discharge/transfer/death of a patient.
Responsible for personal performance.
Adapts to changing environment, e.g., staffing patterns, patient assignments, etc.
Adheres to attendance and dependability standards and uses hospital time conscientiously.
Promotes and maintains a positive image of the unit, nursing department and hospital. Adheres to dress code.
Assumes and performs, in a timely manner, additional duties as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
Performs efficiently in emergency situations by following established procedures.
JOB SPECIFICATION:
QUALIFICATIONS: High School Graduate and/or GED required. Nurse Aide certification is preferred. Nurse Aide experience preferred.
Education/Training: Current BLS certification is required.
Skills: Maintains a high degree of credibility, independence, integrity, confidentiality and trust. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential. Basic Computer Skills.
Physical Effort: Must be able to stand and traverse 50% of the time. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery. Frequently position self to provide patient care and lifting up to 70 lbs to a height of 3-4 feet.
Pay: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
