Are you bilingual in English and Spanish? We are currently recruiting for an Occasional Dual Language Employment Development Specialist with amazing customer service skills to add to our Lynnwood WorkSource Office.

Our Employment Development Specialists are a critical piece of our mission of providing our services to job seekers and employers. As a member of our WorkSource center team, you will use compassion and empathy to provide our customers with information about the full range of agency services and programs. You will guide customers to the appropriate internal or external resources and support services. Your ultimate goal is to help Washington workers and employers succeed in the global economy by delivering superior employment and training services.

Duties

Whether in the Resource Room helping customers, facilitating orientations, and career services workshops or meeting one on one with a job seeker to assess customers work readiness and employability, it is our Employment Development Specialists' goal to engage our job seekers by offering access to the full array of services available through the WorkSource system. These services increase job seekers skills and ability to find gainful employment into high-quality jobs and careers.

SOME OF WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Facilitate job preparation activities, such as supporting customers in building resumes and materials for a standard job application, noting areas for needed skill development, conducting orientations to services, and facilitating workshops to support customers’ employability.
  • Answer phone calls and direct to program teams; provide timely response and services through all forms of customer service in both English and Spanish (phone, email, virtual, and face-to-face).
  • Provide in person and virtual employment services/resources to job seekers in both English and Spanish.
  • Conduct individual interviews to articulate program services and activities. Identify components applicable to customer need; develop recommendations for continuous engagement.
  • Ensure the customer understands and follows all employment and training directives, expectations, and performance standards.
  • Keep informed of available external resources and referrals.
  • Provide labor market information.
  • Develop individual employment service plans; guide customers to effectively using employment and training programs and services.
  • Use technology such as Microsoft Word, excel and outlook and other software applications to plan your day and record the work you do.

This is an in-training opportunity and will be hired as a WorkSource Specialist 2 or 3 depending on qualifications.
You will be required to successfully complete the training plan in order to promote to the next level of the series until the goal class of WorkSource Specialist 4 is reached.

Pay ranges for these levels are:
WorkSource Specialist 2: $39,852 - $51,888 monthly depending on qualifications.
WorkSource Specialist 3: $42,696 - $55,872 monthly depending on qualifications

Please Note:
The salary listed for this job includes the Legislative approved general wage increase effective July 1, 2022.

WHAT YOU BRING


Qualified candidates will have one (1) or more of the following experiences and/or education. Such as: Workforce development, customer service, professional public contact work, unemployment insurance, social services, human resource services, education, public relations, benefits programs, insurance claims.

Ability to provide occasional bilingual (Spanish) services to our customers. Able to communicate in person, via telephone, virtually and in writing in Spanish and English.

WorkSource Specialist 2:

Option 1: A combination of education and/or relevant experience totaling no less than five (5) years.

Option 2: One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 1 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state's Employment Security agency.

WorkSource Specialist 3:
Option 1: A combination of education and/or relevant experience* totaling no less than six (6) years.

Option 2:
One (1) year of experience as a WorkSource Specialist 2 within the Employment Security Department, or in an equivalent class with another state's Employment Security agency.

Education to Experience Equivalences:
Associate Degree = 2 years | Bachelor Degree = 4 years | Masters or Higher = 5 years
A Master's degree will substitute for one year of the required experience.


Preferred/Desirable qualification:

Ability to communicate effectively in person, via telephone and in writing in Spanish and English.

Additional Requirement of Employment:

  • Must be able to pass an Unemployment Insurance (UI) Claim & Benefit Information Review.
  • Must be able to travel as needed.
  • Per Gov. Inslee’s Directive 22-13.1, employees of the Washington State Employment Security Department (ESD) must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after the final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine series. As a condition of employment, ESD employees are required to provide proof of vaccination before starting work. A medical or religious exemption may be requested for accommodation.
