General Statement of Duties


Closing Date: This position closes Monday, January 23,2023.

Performs responsible and specialized office and clerical duties at the Water Reclamation Facility, 9101 WRVA Road, Richmond, VA 23231; does related work as required.


Essential Duties


Essential Duties :
  • Track vehicle weights for trucks hauling waste materials to and from the Water Reclamation Facility
  • Reviews waste manifest documents for accuracy and completeness
  • Enters vehicle weights and information into specialized tracking software programs
  • Professionally conducts business with the public, other employees, and departments
  • Maintains and organizes a system of chemical Safety Data Sheets for plant chemical inventory
  • Provides administrative support to the Water Reclamation Facility
  • Processes invoices for payment
  • Types forms, letters, minutes, memoranda, and reports
  • Keeps detailed records and prepares reports
  • Operates and maintains inventory of a variety of office equipment
  • Opens, sorts, and distributes mail
  • Develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Answers telephones, greets visitors in a positive and friendly manner, and forwards callers to correct source
  • Performs related work as assigned.


Preferred experience, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Considerable knowledge of and familiarity with personal computers and the ability to learn and effectively use commonly utilized business software packages; specifically, but not exclusively Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with VDOT regulated weigh scales and regulations
  • Ability to learn, interpret, understand, apply, and communicate agency or division services, policies, and procedures
  • Knowledge of spelling and punctuation, English grammar, arithmetic, and telephone usage
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Good typing skills
  • Ability to learn, manage, and maintain customized software programs; (i.e.: Oracle Financial, Hach WIMS, etc.)
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with Virginia purchasing and procurement regulations
  • Ability to keep moderately complex records
  • Ability to assemble and organize data and to prepare reports from such records
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other employees and the public
  • Ability to always maintain complete confidentiality
  • Strong work ethic, drive, and motivation
  • Punctuality, reliability, optimism, tact, courtesy, and flexibility


Minimum Qualifications


Graduation from high school and four (4) years of related clerical experience; OR , any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.


Additional Information


The expected hiring range for this position will be $36,613 - $42,143.

This position is at the County of Henrico’s Water Reclamation Facility, located at 9101 WRVA Road, in the County’s far east end (rural Varina). The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.
