Job description
The job of "Psychologist - School" is done for the purpose/s of providing information on student's functioning and recommendations regarding their successful transition to and from school; to develop, coordinate, and provide student assessment support to social services coordinators and classroom teachers as required for successful educational programming and classroom support.

Three (3) positions available. This 1.0 FTE, continuing position is Monday - Friday for 7.0 hours per day, 180 days per year.

Examples of Duties:
- Coordinates psychological and educational testing activities conducted for the purpose of special education eligibility determination as well as providing information supporting the development of appropriate educational programs.
- Organize and maintain requisite student records for student eligibility for categorical program services as provided by Chapter 1, Special Education, or Learning Assistance Programs.
- Develop and manage behavioral and social components of individual Student Intervention Plans in ongoing consultation with classroom teachers and special needs teachers.
- Provide within classroom support and intervention for students experiencing behavioral, social, or emotional problems which negatively impact their school performance.
- Provide direct services and intervention for special needs students as required for their success including proactive strategies as social skills education, individual student interventions, behavioral contracts, etc.
- Assist teachers with the design and implementation of solutions to classroom problems focused upon the special needs student population.
- Design and provide staff development activities as needed and requested by classroom teachers for meeting educational and management needs of special needs students.
Other Job Functions:
- Administers various proficiency tests for the purpose of assisting in determining student's placement and/or eligibility for potential course of study.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
- Participates in various extracurricular school and/or community activities for the purpose of providing supervision and/or representing school at such events.
Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Skills to communicate effectively, problem solve.
- Knowledge of curriculum, education code, district policies, problem solving methodology.
- Abilities to sit for prolonged periods, maintain and verify completeness of records, meet schedules and deadlines, communicate with persons of varied cultural and educational backgrounds, and communicate in oral and written form. Significant physical abilities include reaching/handling/fingering, talking/hearing conversations, near visual acuity/visual accommodation.
