***The Alliance for Education is a hybrid workplace. This role will have two required in-office days per week and remaining days optional in-office or remote.***

About the Organization:
The Alliance for Educationis an independent, local education fund that works in partnership with Seattle Public Schools since 1995 to address big challenges facing Seattle students and schools. We develop, invest, and partner in programs that advance educational justice and increase racial equity for students in the Seattle Public School District. Our work is designed to challenge systemic inequities in public schools and create a more equitable and just education system that allows all Seattle students to thrive. Our innovative programs include fiscal sponsorship services for school-based fundraising groups, the Right Now Needs Fund, and the Seattle Teacher Residency.
Position Summary
The Operations and Accounting Coordinator is a key member of the Finance and Operations Team and will provide support for varied operational, fiscal, and administrative aspects of our organization. The coordinator will work collaboratively with both the Finance and Operations team and the Development and Advancement team to provide support for payments, gift entry and financial reporting to staff, school accounts and donors. This team member will also coordinate office infrastructure such as shared supplies, equipment. This role is integral to ensuring that our team operates in peak form, the fiscal services we provide are accurate and helpful for the 106 SPS schools we serve, and the Alliance team can grow our capacity to help Seattle Public Schools (SPS) advance educational justice.
Critical Job Functions
The following describes the critical functions of the role but does not provide an exhaustive list of all the job responsibilities and duties.
Operations (35%)
- Maintain shared office equipment such as printers/copiers, phones, and related vendor relationships
- Oversee maintenance of office infrastructure systems such as HVAC and lighting
- Procure and stock shared office supplies
- Serve as liaison with building management
- Manage office keys and access for staff
- Coordinate office safety and security policies and procedures
- Contribute to team efforts in innovation and increased efficiencies in office management
Payables, Receivables & Fiscal Services Support (60%)
- Support AFE programs by providing data input and other support for Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processing, including during high volume periods and Manager absences
- Process and route physical mail
- Assist with weekly deposits and donation/gift preparation
- Utilize CRM and accounting systems to research and resolve a variety of inquiries from school account advisors and staff concerning school accounts such as providing account balance updates, donor listings and report requests
Organizational Contributions (5%)
- Attend weekly all-staff meetings
- Participate in the diversity, equity, inclusion, and antiracism work of the Alliance

- Keen attention to detail and strong organizational skills with demonstrated success navigating detailed processes
- Experience with accounting and payables software strongly preferred. Experience with Abila MIP preferred.
- Experience with donor databases/CRM strongly preferred. Experience with Raiser’s Edge preferred.
- Strong data entry skills
- Ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects in a customer service environment with regular interruptions
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to be a team player and work independently as needed
- Initiative to innovate and enjoys helping to develop and improve systems
- Positive customer service interactions and communications, works thoughtfully to research and resolve internal and external inquiries, competing demands, sensitive situations.
- Enthusiasm for and interest in the Alliance’s mission and vision of advancing education justice
- Strong computer skills: familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office 365 and willingness to learn new programs as applicable

Alliance for Education is committed to internal and market equity. The salary range for this position is $25.98 - $29.90 hourly. Salary is determined based on internal and market equity, internal and market data/salary ranges, and the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. We are likely to hire at the beginning to midpoint of the salary range to allow future salary growth based on an employee's performance, professional development, and increases in responsibilities and duties.
