Position: Loan Documentation Review Specialist
Reports To: Loan Documentation Review Supervisor
Indirectly Reports To: Senior Vice President of Loan Operations
Reports To This Position: None
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Role Summary:
Responsible for reviewing newly originated loan documents for accuracy and inclusion of proper documents in the closing package. Confirm accurate preparation of early loan disclosures, loan closing documents and support documents for modifications and renewals of existing credits. Document any exceptions related to the new, modified or renewed loan.
Specific Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities):
- Review all new loan types (Consumer, Commercial, Real Estate, etc.) for compliance with state / federal regulations, and bank policy.
- Notate loan policy, compliance and documentation exceptions and send exception notice to responsible lender using the Bank’s loan origination platform.
- Review all types of loan modifications and renewals for compliance with state / federal regulations, and Bank policy.
- Guide branch associates and answer their questions concerning loan policy and loan documentation.
- Validate and log information into the Bank’s HMDA LAR software.
- Understand and navigate the loan origination platform in order to extract loan information necessary for the review of the credit facility.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Bank’s loan origination platform, loan policy and regulatory guidelines thru ongoing continuing education via internal training, webinars, etc.
- Assist in various other areas of the Loan Operations Department when necessary.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required:
- Ability to make sound decisions within proper authority and use good judgment based on authority vested by the Loan Documentation Review Supervisor; know when to refer situations to a higher authority;
- Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and ability to identify and interpret detailed documentation;
- Ability to work in a high-information, high-responsibility, frequently changing environment;
- Excellent initiative and drive skills, proactive teamwork, cooperation and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work with limited supervision and to plan and organize daily work flow to achieve set objectives and deadlines;

- Possess the necessary interpersonal skills to facilitate proactive teamwork and to communicate effectively and maintain a friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor at all times;
- Ability to maintain a sound understanding of lending practices, state and federal regulatory guidelines;
- Ability to identify problems and resolve them in a proactive, timely manner;
- Strong PC skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office and web based applications.
Education/Experience requirements:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience;
- Two to four years of financial services experience preferred;
- Capable user of computer systems and technology, including word-processing, spreadsheets, etc.
