Position: Operations Manager

Reports to: El Paso Branch Manager/CEO


Dakota Premium Hardwoods, LLC specializes in the distribution of Hardwood Lumber, laminate, molding, cabinet hardware and more to the Woodworking Industry and is seeking an Operations Manager for its El Paso Branch, with a strong opportunity for promotion to Branch Manager.


Position Summary:

Run the Day-to-Day Operations of the Dakota El Paso branch from open to close every day: from Customer Service to inventory control, workflow, safety, warehouse organization, culture building, employee management to cost management. The purpose of the position is to increase operational efficiency, customer experience, sales and safety at the branch while training under the 43-year Manager of the Branch to grow into becoming the Branch Manager. The ideal candidate has a granular knowledge of Operations of a Hardwood Lumber Yard with at least 3-years industry experience. The position is not for an MBA. It is a get down in it, hands on leadership role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage 12-person and growing employee team
  • Manage the daily operations of the branch
  • Oversee Warehouse Management, Organization and Safety (We have a Warehouse Manager)
  • Oversee Will Call Sales Team and daily delivery Operations (two trucks likely to grow to three)
  • Oversee Branch Safety (We have Corporate and branch safety leaders)
  • Evaluate all aspects of the Operations on a granular level to improve efficiency and profitability
  • Provide leadership to all branch members to help create a great work environment with outstanding customer service, efficiency and profitability.

Position Requirements:

Education:

School of Hard Knocks Building Materials 3-years industry experience.

A Focus on Hardwood Lumber is a plus.


Skills/Experience:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Leadership skills with a love for teaching and growing people
  • Competent computer skills (Experience with Agility Distribution Software a plus but not required
  • 3-Years plus experience in Building Materials – expertise in Hardwood Lumber is a plus. Knowledge of Cabinet Hardware also a plus
  • Willingness to lead, learn and grow with ambition to grow into a full-fledged Branch Manager after mastering all aspects of Operations and proving to be an effective leader with a strong and dependable work ethic

Hours: Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM with 1 or 2 half-day Saturdays per month

Compensation:

55K to 85K Gross Annual Salary per year depending on skills and experience
