Pay: $20.00 per hour plus competitive benefits
Spanish Bilingual differential: $0.75 per hour (as applicable)
Position Type: Full-time / 40 hours per week
Expected Hours per Week: Mon-Fri; 8:00a-4:30p with the ability to flex hours to accommodate business needs.
Location: Fort Collins Food Share- 1301 Blue Spruce Fort Collins, CO 80524 primarily, but will work at various partner sites in Larimer County after fully trained.
Remote Eligibility: 2- This position is expected to work onsite but may be allowed to work from home intermittently in some cases.

Summary: This role works with clients experiencing food insecurity and assists with the enrollment of multiple public benefits. This role will have primary responsibility to educate, engage, and assist individuals with SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, previously known as food stamps) via phone and in person. This role will also work with volunteers to provide greater access and minimize barriers for individuals applying for SNAP. Promoting and creating awareness of the advantages of the SNAP program, break down barriers and stigmas within the community is important. This role serves a broad range of demographics and bilingual in English and Spanish is helpful.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Outreach Activities via Phone (50%)
- Update calendar to reflect available times to assist clients over the phone.
- Return calls to clients who have expressed interest in public benefits via an online tool.
- Perform benefit assistance with on-line recordings of client information.
- Follow up with clients, sometimes repeatedly, to gather information for applications.
- Work with referral agencies to connect their clients to SNAP and other public benefits.
Continuous Education and Communication (30%)
- Develop in-depth knowledge of the SNAP program, and screen, counsel, and advise clients on necessary documentation and eligibility requirements for SNAP.
- Research viable organizations that serve SNAP-eligible clients and develop partnerships and infrastructure to increase SNAP awareness and application submission rates.
- Work directly with the Larimer County Department of Human Services/ to accomplish program objectives to increase SNAP participation.
- Stay informed about changes to the SNAP program, policies and procedures; seek out ongoing training to ensure up-to-date knowledge of program requirements.
Collaborative Outreach Activities (20%)
- Conduct outreach to community-based organizations, emergency food programs, and other partners to share information on SNAP rules and regulations.
- Attend community outreach events, fairs and forums as needed; may provide training and/or educational presentations at these events to promote SNAP.
- Ensure that outreach activities are tracked and recorded as needed for program evaluation and reporting to grant funding agencies.
- Comfortable with working from different sites within the county up to 100% of the time.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, but higher education with a focus in Social Service preferred.
- Experience working with low-income communities and/or knowledge of SNAP and food insecurity or lived experience preferred.
- Experience using collaborative tools for file storage and sharing, meeting scheduling, and virtual collaboration preferred.
Pre-employment screening requirements: Ability to pass all pre-screening requirements, pass a WorkSTEPS job-specific test, must be 21 years or older, and possess a valid U.S. Driver's License with a good driving record as verified with an MVR check.
Language Skills and Ability: Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language with preference of bi-lingual in Spanish.
Computer Skills: Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and/or willingness to learn new software.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no direct reports but is responsible for the supervision of volunteers.
Work Environment: This position works primarily in an office setting within a warehouse, with some outdoor exposure during the workday.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day.
