The Painter is responsible for performing a variety of duties relating to various painting skills including but not limited to; wall preparation, wall covering, wall and furniture finishing etc. Matches, mixes, thins and applies paints, stains, primers lacquers, varnishes, epoxies and other protective coverings to prepared surfaces. Washes, scrapes, putties, sands, plasters and otherwise prepares surfaces as needed and removes old paint when necessary. Performs tile, taping and cement work. Exercises initiative and judgment in preparing work areas by removing furniture, laying drop cloths and otherwise protecting work areas and occupants from spills splatters and dust. Ensures adequate inventory of painting supplies and materials and maintains work area in clean and orderly fashion. Estimates quantities and helps select paints, wall coverings and other materials as needed. Hangs wall paper, vinyl wall covering, wall guards and similar materials. Must know how to mix and blend paints to obtain desired colors. Must be able to estimate time and determine appropriate types of paint to use on various surfaces.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimum of three years experience as a painter. Must know how to mix and blend paints to obtain desired colors. Incumbent must be intelligent, verbal, have good motor coordination, and have good dexterity.
