The Patient Care Associate - Telesitter is accountable for the following:

• 
  Capable of continuous monitoring of up to 15 patients on one screen at one time and remaining at all times while on duty.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients using a microphone and headset
• Ability to communicate with hospital staff and respond quickly to patient behavioral changes.
• Ability to use discretion and courtesy when working with patients, visitors, and staff
• Documentation on patient’s behavior throughout the shift
• Basic computer operation skills
• Basic Microsoft windows experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• 1 year of direct patient care experience required.

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• 
  Practices safety at all times while performing job responsibilities and reports unsafe conditions when identified.
• Practices patient confidentiality utilizing HIPAA standards.

• High School education or equivalent.
• Certification preferred (patient care technician, nurse assistant, medical assistant)
• Behavioral health sciences interests or academic related areas preferred.

• Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors necessary to perform patient care responsibilities. Ages of the patients served: adolescent (14-18 years old), Adult (18-65 years old), Geriatric (65+). Recognizes patient’s psychological development and modifies approaches for specific age groups.
• Demonstrates knowledge of specific factors necessary to perform responsibilities of position (i.e. SCI, TBI, Stoke, etc.).
• Patient communication techniques are age appropriate.
• Recognizes psychological development and modifies approach to specific age groups.

• Prolonged sitting. Sit to stand desk will be installed in room to allow the PCA to stand while working.

• Follows the following schedule for times to report to work and to leave work:

Day Shift: 6:30 am – 7:00 pm
