Part Time, Days. 16 hours/week. Every other Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Pay Range is between $35.58-$53.37/hr, depending on years of relevant and like experience. +$2.50/hr for weekend shifts.

POSITION SUMMARY

Assumes responsibility and accountability for providing quality patient care through the provisions of physical therapy services including: Assessment of patient functioning, development of treatment programs, provision of patient treatment, and education of the patient and family as it relates to physical/functional abilities (must adhere to the APTA Code of Ethics). Adheres to all accreditation requirements; must promote interdepartmental and intradepartmental teamwork, establish and maintain effective communication with patient’s family and rehabilitation team members and work professionally with physicians and the community.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Special Qualifications (licensure, registration, etc.)

  • Current Colorado state license for Physical Therapy.
  • BLS certification required by the end of conditional period.

Knowledge, Skill And Ability

  • Must have manual dexterity to operate equipment and to provide hands-on assessment, assistance, and exercise for patient care.
  • The ability to accurately use and maintain therapeutic equipment.
  • Serves patient population from adolescent to older adult/geriatric.
  • Visual acuity necessary to read dials on equipment and receive visual feedback regarding patient status.
  • Aided hearing acuity to receive information from patients.
  • Able to modify assessment, treatment and interaction skills based on the age and developmental level of the patient.
  • Ability to walk and perform exercises with patients approximately 6/8 or 8/10 hours a day and able to get on and off the floor, lift weights off the floor.
  • Ability to effectively counsel patients and their families.

Experience

Must have experience evaluating neurologically involved patients and conditions. Developing, executing, assessing, and modifying physical therapy intervention as it applies to the neurologically involved patient population.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

Working Conditions:

  • Stress of keeping to schedules.
  • Busy environment, numerous interruptions.
  • Exposure to emergency situations and equipment with potential hazards.
  • Hours may include holidays, weekends, and/or extended hours depending on job necessity.

Physical Activities:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to constantly stand and walk.
  • The employee frequently is required to stoop, crouch and twist.
  • The employee is occasionally required to kneel, squat and sit.
  • The employee must be able to consistently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 10 pounds, frequently support, push, pull and/or lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally support, push, pull and/or transfer up to 50 pounds (for example, moving a patient from a wheelchair to a bed).
  • Functional physical demands include manual dexterity, fine motor skills and reaching.
  • The following senses will be needed for essential duties of the job: speech, vision, hearing, smell and touch.

INTERRELATIONSHIPS

  • The position requires the ability to communicate effectively on a daily basis both verbally and in writing with physicians, students, staff members (inter- and intra-departmentally), patients, families and the public.
  • The individual must be sensitive to the needs of coworkers, patients, families and physicians.
  • Also essential is an ability to work cooperatively with other departments and individuals as well as an ability to maintain confidentiality of information about patients.
  • Flexibility related to scheduling and workload are required.
  • The individual should be able to work effectively with peers and supervise students, aides, assistants and volunteers.
  • Discretion, tact, and a high degree of professionalism are essential.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

  • Supervision of Physical Therapy Students.
  • Supervision of Physical Therapy Assistants in the delivery of patient care.
  • Supervision of volunteers when applicable
  • Supervision of the Rehab Technician, when applicable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Evaluative skills: Selects appropriate tests and measures to determine goals and problems course of treatment and appropriate therapeutic procedures/modalities.
  • Selects and establishes physical therapy diagnosis.
  • Planning skills: Formulates and maintains an individualized patient plan of care based on long and short-term goals.
  • Implementation skills: Provides treatment using appropriate tools and demonstrates a complete knowledge of patient management.
  • Assessment skills: Evaluates patient response to treatment and revises plan of care as indicated.
  • Serves patient population from adolescent to older adult/geriatric. Is able to modify assessment, treatment and interaction skills based on the age and developmental level of the patient.
  • Promotes effective communication and teamwork with team members, the hospital and other contacts.
  • Reports and documents evaluations, plans, treatment techniques, assessment, and patient progress
