JOB DESCRIPTION

Overview

Food manufacturer is looking for a Plant Accountant to direct and manage all accounting functions at their facility. This position coordinates the accounting accuracy of all materials and supplies for plant operations, and daily production reporting. Monitors plant productivity and profitability and advises plant management of variances requiring attention.

Responsibilities

Maintains daily, weekly, and monthly inventory transaction reports for the plant.

Maintains current formula files in compliance with QA and R&D requirements in Prism and HDI system.

Assists in monthly physical inventories, reconciles inventory data, and determines variances.

Closes daily Schedules and reviews production reports for accuracy and yield factors.

Completes database adjustments and changes as required for labor, costs, and formulas.

Performs other duties / responsibilities as assigned by Management.

Review inventory transactions for the facilities mentioned above.

Periodically audit current formula files in compliance with QA and R&D requirements.

Analyzes plant labor costs and trends compared to budget.

Coordinates with plant leadership to ensure proper material handling, warehouse, maintenance, sanitation, accounting and inventory control activities and procedures.

Provides training, direction, development, evaluation, coaching and leadership to employees.

Assist with special projects as needed.

Researches and analyzes plant information to provide advice to the Director of Operations and Plant Leadership Teams.

Ensures monthly and quarterly sales and use tax is completed.

Analyze inventory on hold and take proper accounting action if necessary.

Provides insight and delegates yearend inventory functions for facilities mentioned above.

Review and inquire about yearend inventory variances. Work with internal and external audit on any compliance issues.

Review KPI and scorecard information for the end of the month.

Review financial database and ensure accuracy of information.

Compiles and submits information for all required plant/corporate monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Explains variances on financial reviews and on usage stock materials for the month end.

Qualifications

3-5 years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment - food industry preferred.

BS/BA degree in accounting or related field preferred.

SAP Experience

Budget Preparation and Forecasting

Experience in accurate record generation, maintaining and retention

Working knowledge of accounting systems and manufacturing processes.

Working knowledge of accounting/inventory systems and manufacturing processes.

Working knowledge of warehouse, receiving and material handling methods and processes.

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats.

High level of organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning, and adaptability.

Strong interpersonal, technical and presentation skills.
