Post-doctoral Fellow

A Post-doctoral position is immediately available to join the Sahay lab for development of genome editing platforms for treatment of retinal degeneration, a project funded through the National Eye Institute. The Sahay Lab at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Oregon State University in Portland, OR, is developing lipid nanoparticles that enable packaging and delivery of genome editors to the back of the eye. The current project aims to develop targeted nanotherapeutics for prime editing for treatment of inherited genetic diseases. We are seeking a postdoctoral candidate with expertise in molecular biology with an emphasis on genome editing. A background in molecular biology with expertise in designing and of guide RNA, next generation sequencing analysis, single cell RNA seq is highly desirable. We are an interdisciplinary team, and we support collaborations of the candidate with formulation scientists, biologists, engineers and clinicians. Dr. Gaurav Sahay is committed for the career development of his team members and growth as independent scientists. The position will enable postdocs to learn drug delivery, nanomedicine and apply it to deliver next generation gene editors. We are located at the SW Waterfront of the Robertson Life Sciences Building in Portland, OR houses scientists from OSU, OHSU and PSU. We are looking for a self-driven and highly motivated candidate within 1-2 yrs after PhD, who possess a strong ability to lead a collaborative research project, with capabilities to work both independently and as a team.

Required qualification:

1. Experience in cell culture, cloning, transfections/transductions, gene editing and other cell based assays.

2. Expertise in molecular techniques such as western blot, IP/co-IP, IHC and ICC, RT-qPCR and flow cytometer

3. Experience with designing and analyzing next generation sequencing data is highly desirable

Preferred qualification:

1. Background in molecular biology is highly desirable

2. Experience in genome editing, novel tools for analysis of editing and design of guides is highly preferred.

3. A background in retinal biology is desirable but not required

4. Skills in Bioinformatics and statistics
