The post-doctoral research associate will work at the University of Notre Dame (UND) on a new project funded by the National Science Foundation and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute. The project is entitled “Analysis, Design, and System-Level Performance of Repairable Precast Concrete BRB Frames under Seismic Loads”, and is conducted in collaboration with co-PIs at the University of California San Diego (UCSD) and Clemson University (CU). The project tasks include BRB member tests at UND, numerical modeling at CU, and system-level building earthquake response tests using the six-degree of freedom NHERI Large High-Performance Outdoor Shake Table [LHPOST6] at UCSD. Accompanying design and design-level modeling/analysis tasks will also be conducted at UND. The post-doc will manage and integrate the research conducted at these three universities in collaboration with precast concrete production and design industry partners. The key roles of the post-doctoral researcher will be to: 1) co-advise the UND PhD and undergraduate students together with the PI ; 2) coordinate with the research activities conducted by the co-PIs and their students/staff at CU and UCSD; and 3) work with the industry partners for all aspects of specimen production, delivery, construction, repair, and demolition. The project duration is 3 years and it is expected for the post-doc to remain on the project for this entire duration. A PhD in civil engineering with focus on concrete structures, earthquake engineering, and large-scale laboratory structural testing is required.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
