Job Title: Pre-Make Ready Operator
Reports To: Process Owner
Labor Grade:
Training Period: 180 days
Summary
Ensures the proper tooling setup for the die cutters per internal customer specifications. The operator is responsible for performing duties by the job specification. In addition, they are required to maintain production standards and consistency in job preparation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Ability to read and comprehend the schedule to determine the production sequence.
2. Ability to read and interpret job order specifications to determine off-press and die cutting needs.
3. Ability to review and interpret the production map.
4. Ability to use a hand truck, fork truck, and scissor lift
5. Ability to retrieve and return tooling and dies from storage racks using the file card system.
6. Ability to use the setup tables to exchange stripping tooling, blanking tooling, and die.
7. On jobs requiring a universal grid, the ability to use the set-up table to build the tooling.
8. Ability to use the following power tools; table, panel, skill, band, saber saw, drill press, and grinder.
9. Proper use of chemicals and ability to read and comprehend MSDS
10. Complete paperwork for production tracking
11. Ability to assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting tooling issues on the die cutter.
Additional Duties
1. Maintain housekeeping in and around off press
2. Ability to operate a die cutter as needed
3. Ability to operate the platen as needed
4. Assist in performing die-making functions of knifing and rubbering
5. Repair tooling as needed
6. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have mechanical skills, be accurate and precise, use a ruler, lift 80 lbs or less, and be a problem solver. The individual must be capable of operating without direct supervision. Have background and experience as a die-cutting operator. All new hires must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
Safety Policies and Practices
All employees must wear safety glasses and steel-toe shoes while in the manufacturing area. Sound protection is required in designated areas. Rules for employee conduct are covered in the employee orientation and the employee handbook. To operate a hand truck, the employee must be licensed within a responsible period. During this period, the trainer is responsible for the trainee’s safety in the operation of these trucks.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
