Position Summary: The Community Outreach Analyst will assist in the delivery of existing community outreach efforts and other initiatives in the LGBTQ community and youth/ young adult population as directed by the Program Manager. Duties Description: Assists with the coordination and implementation of the outreach and education to the LGBTQ community and research related programs; Provide outreach efforts, and assist with the recruitment of LGBTQ populations to research projects and grants including contact and interview research subjects; educate on the importance of clinical trials; provide barrier counseling (telephone and in-person) as a navigator as needed within the LGBTQ population and will serve as educator, counselor, and advocate for participants as they learn about their cancer care. They will conduct community education, outreach, and dissemination activities for youth/young adults and the LGBTQ communities. Partner with key organizations and groups to incorporate cancer awareness and screening into existing health education opportunities. Build our networks within the LGBTQ and young adult/pediatric cancer community so to ensure that The OSUCCC/James and NCI-related messages, products, and programs are disseminated in a timely manner. Disseminate cancer awareness, screening, nutrition, and physical activity messages as part of every partnership activity; Coordinate community awareness and education outreach activity aimed at increasing knowledge of biospecimen research and clinical trials. They will prepare reports and conduct special studies as required; evaluates effectiveness of the programs and recommends change as needed. Attends meetings and provides updates on project requirements.
Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Health or selected field with emphasis in Diversity Enhancement or Community Relations or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience working with youth and/or the LGBTQ community or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Experience working in a multi-cultural setting. Experience working in a community-based setting for at least 2 years preferred. Ability to initiate and maintain positive working relationships with CCHE staff and other organizations. Understand the community served - community connectedness. Good communication skills, such as listening well, and using language appropriately.
