Program Director
Statement of Purpose
The Program Director is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the center and for meeting all regulatory requirements.
The Program Director shall:
- Communicate with the licensee and leadership concerning the operation of the center
- Directs the day-to-day operations of the program and implements programmatic and administrative policies and procedures to attain program goals and objectives
- Develops and implements programmatic and administrative policies and procedures
- Oversees quality assurance in the programs service delivery including clinical care and documentation
- Oversees the programs productivity to meet established standards and to ensure continuity of care in the provision of comprehensive services.
- Coordinates communication with other service components of the agency and outside agencies involved with agency clients.
- Adheres to the agency policies and procedures.
- Adheres to the agency code of ethics and complies with the state mental health code.
- Supervises the service staff, evaluates employee performance, and makes recommendations for human resources actions
- Provide services identified in each client’s needs and services plan, or required by California Code of Regulations, Title 9, Division 1, Chapter 3, Article 3.5, Sections 531-535 or Title 22, Division 6, Chapter 2.
- The Program Director will ensure that when clients have needs identified by the needs and services that cannot be met by the program, clients can attend available community programs. This includes, but is not limited to, arranging transportation.
- Arrange special provision of services to clients with disabilities including visual and auditory deficiencies.
- Create and maintain the employee work schedule as required in Section 81066(a).
- Provide staff support to clients in the planning, preparing, and serving of meals. If clients are unable to plan, prepare, and serve meals, the program director shall carry out the program plan pursuant to Section 81022(b)(17) to ensure requirements of section 81076 are met.
- Provide staff support to clients in performing facility maintenance and/or cleaning activities as designated in the client’s treatment/rehabilitation plan. If clients are unable to perform facility maintenance and/or cleaning, the program director shall carry out the program plan pursuant top Section 81022(b)(17) to ensure requirements of section 81077 are met.
- Create and maintain staff training schedule.
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or any major which includes at least 24 semester college units in one or more of the following subject areas:
- Psychology
- Social Work
- Sociology
- Psychiatric Nursing
- Two years’ experience in a community program that services clients who have a mental illness. Experience must be in the direct provision of services to clients, of which one (1) year must be in the position of supervising direct care staff.
- The program director shall complete at least 20 clock-hours of continuing education per year in areas relating to mental health and the care of the mentally ill, and/or administration.

Shall be on premises the number of hours necessary to manage and administer the treatment program
