What you’ll do

The Project Scientist should have experience working on multiple project assignments with diverse clients and will also possess the ability to think critically and work independently or with a team, in an effective and efficient manner. Other duties and responsibilities include assisting Project Manager or Senior Project Scientist with client contact, maintaining budgets and schedules, project coordination, project reviews, and technical proposals. Projects range from public water supply development, MS4 stormwater management, and hazardous waste and landfill monitoring, including hydrogeological and contaminant investigations and report preparation. As a prerequisite, meets all criteria of a Scientist

  • Assists the Project Manager and/or other project staff in complying with the project scope of work, schedule, and budget through frequent communication on work progress.
  • Reviews notes and results from field investigations (i.e., drilling oversight, sampling of various media (soil, groundwater, surface water, stormwater)).
  • Reviews data and reports prepared by Scientists.
  • Coordinates and reviews environmental due diligence assessments prepared by Scientists.
  • Performs environmental compliance site visits of regulated facilities and prepares field reports.
  • Reviews/edits maps with ArcMap / GIS products
  • Performs a mix of field and office activities.
  • Prepares permit applications.
  • Prepares project deliverables pertaining to local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Provides technical input into proposals on less complex projects, or discrete tasks on more complex projects by developing scope of work, budgets, and schedules by relying on historical information or experience.
  • Assists in the preparation of technical presentations. Participates in client meetings and/or technical presentations.
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients on technical issues by effectively communicating on a frequent and regular basis as directed by the project manager.
  • Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff. Provides on-the-job training and mentoring for Scientists and interns.


Must haves

  • Education and Experience: B.S. Degree in Geology or Environmental Science
  • 3+ years of experience or M.S. Degree in an applicable field with 2+ years of experience.
  • OSHA 10-Hour and OSHA 40-Hour Certification (required to be taken upon starting if not yet certified)
  • Proficiency in MS 365e, GIS
  • Ability to effectively communicate/interact within project teams and with clients; ability to direct activities of less experienced staff; demonstrated and increasingly effective written and oral skills.
  • Active member of an ‘Environmental Professional Association’
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Duties include office and field site work - must be willing to work in both

Salary range is $75,000 - $85,000
