The successful candidate can choose a work station in either the Madison, Milwaukee, or Green Bay.

Position Summary


Under the general supervision of the Business Services Section Chief, this position coordinates with relevant division staff to manage the statewide Division of Public Safety and Resource Protection (DPSRP) records management program. This is one of two Records/Forms Management Specialist positions within the division. This position operates under general supervision to develop, administer, maintain, and disseminate information related to:

  • Open Records Management
  • Advise on best practices and policies for divisional data, document, and forms management
  • Serve as a key records liaison to other DNR units responsible for records management issues such as the Office of Legal Services, DNR IT, etc.

Salary Information


Starting pay is $58,240 to $65,395 annually ($28.00 per hour to $31.44 per hour). Pay for current State employees may vary based on the State of WI Compensation Plan, which requires additional DPM approval to offer a pay increase to transfer candidates.

This position includes an excellent benefits package, including health care, vacation, sick leave, and retirement benefits.

This position is included in Pay Schedule/Range 07-04. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details


Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire.

The final candidate(s) will need to go through a complete law enforcement background check.

All state employees must report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not and provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications


Applicants must possess the following required qualification to be eligible for this position:

  • Coordinating with staff across an agency and/or division on complex requests, projects, or records programs
  • Proficiency using multiple systems and/or software to manage, locate, and share documents, files, pictures, videos, etc.

Best-qualified candidates will also possess the following preferred qualifications:

  • Utilizing shared systems and tracking tools to monitor and complete projects, tasks, and assignments on-time in a dynamic environment
  • Leading, guiding, or coaching other staff (e.g. training, advising, reviewing work, problem solving, etc.) on complex and simple topics
  • Using computer programs (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, or other computerized databases, etc.).
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing several tasks simultaneously while ensuring accuracy of work.
  • Experience researching, interpreting, applying, and ensuring compliance with rules, policies, laws, or procedures.
  • Redacting records, including audio/visual records, prior to release in accordance with statutory, legal, case law, and agency practice and recommend updates to redaction process if needed while ensuring protection of subjects’ privacy.
  • Experience working in a law enforcement setting and/or on law enforcement/public safety issues and systems including body cameras and related systems
  • Experience handling confidential and/or law enforcement information
