Job description
We are looking for a motivated, strategic, and reliable Purchasing Manager to join our Manufacturing team. You will have the opportunity to be part of a fast pace and growing company. The Purchasing Manager is responsible for managing all purchasing and procurement activities, including supplier development, selection, and contracting of material. The PM will coordinate purchase activities with the company’s Plant Manager and Operations Leaders to ensure targeted service and inventory levels are met. Must be able to work in a complex environment.
Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous improvement efforts to initiate material cost reductions and properly mitigate risk
- Manages purchasing process and executes procurement for the company to deliver performance objectives in quality, cost, and service as measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Leads strategy development and ensures effective execution of negotiations on major materials and purchases for the company
- Establish and monitor ROL and ROQ to maximize efficiency and minimize waste by maintaining proper inventory levels
- Coordinate with the proper department to identify and resolve all material, customer service and quality issues with vendors
- Responsible for maintaining data base for: existing, backup, and prospective vendors for key components.
- Build professional relationships with vendors and ensures timely delivery of purchased goods and effectively expedite when needed
- Responsible for budget preparation and monitor variations to deliver improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain data bases in ERP for vendors including – deals, contracts, arrangements, specifications, lead times, minimums, payment terms, certifications.
- Maintenance of product P&Ls – for the top 20% of products – regularly vetting product costing
- Maintain fully loaded cost of goods – landed cost + freight + duty + warehouse charges.
- Review BOMs to make sure all are correct.
- Create & manage Vendor Raw Material and finished Goods Certification & Verification Systems –
- Gather/maintain QA documentation on all sourced raw materials – to ensure company receives what it is paying for.
- Create raw material forms – complete with specifications.
- Perform supply market analysis and follow supply industry trends
- New Product Development – material sourcing & spec development
- Create & maintain major vendor scorecards.
- Investigate and manage all product issues, damages, short-ships and secure appropriate charge-backs.
- Anticipate and manage supply chain challenges
- Operate in a cross functional environment
Qualifications:
- 5-10 years of experience in Supply Chain, Materials Management and Manufacturing Operations
- Experience implementing new business processes and driving improvement
- Support all departments as business needs require
- Experience with inventory management systems, forecasting, and planning
- Experience in various commodities in a manufacturing environment
- Excellent team player with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-moving environment
- Strong negotiating and communication skills
