Job Summary

This position is part of the Quality Assurance Department Supply Chain technical team. This team conducts due diligence activities to ensure suppliers to Compass Group and Foodbuy Members meet our Four Pillars (Food Safety, Food Quality, Food Fraud and Food Defense) while meeting the Three Cs (Country, Customer and Corporate).


The Quality Assurance Coordinator provides technical, analytical, and administrative support to the due diligence programs executed by the Quality Assurance Department Supply Chain technical team. Primary responsibilities include support supplier on-boarding activities, support of Compass Group’s Small Local Diverse (SLED) program and coordination of 3rd party laboratory testing.

Location:
Office-based in Charlotte, NC the North America headquarters of Compass Group (preferred) or Remote for the appropriate candidate.

Travel:
  • Approx. 25% to conduct supplier visits, regular visits to Corporate if remote.
  • Key Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Direct engagement with suppliers to facilitate on-boarding including compliance with Supplier Management Database, supplier record review
  • Direct engagement and support of Compass Group Small Local Diverse (SLED) program
  • Conduct QA assessments at supplier and SLED sites as needed.
  • Actively and cooperatively participates in team collaboration efforts to improve common workflows, procedures, and tasks to increase efficiency and assure stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Coordinate product integrity program activities including sample pick-up, laboratory coordination and oversight, collation of laboratory results and communication of results with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage administrative activities associated with the Quality Assurance Department information system with regard to supply chain diligence programs.
  • Work closely with department staff across supply chain support teams and field operations support teams, as well as with procurement group (Foodbuy) stakeholders and Compass Group operators.
  • Participate in team meetings and presentations to internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously improve job workflow, procedures, and tasks to increase efficiency and assure stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Other tasks, projects or technical research as assigned by the Director of Supplier Risk.

Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. degree in food technology, food science or related curriculum required.
  • Experience: Candidate ideally will have at least 1 year of food manufacturing experience or similar role in a Quality Assurance role.
  • Good understanding of the domestic supply chain and industry quality and food safety standards.
  • Knowledge of FDA and USDA requirements
  • Audit experience in manufacturing facilities, distribution centers and working with development of small suppliers a plus.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; ability to learn various software and web-enabled programs.
  • Travel required as assigned.

  • Must be a strong, persuasive communicator with the ability to relate to other professionals, peers, and field operators, both technical and non-technical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong data management, reporting and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively plan, organize, and prioritize work.
  • Ability to coordinate assigned activities within a team environment.
  • Analytical thinking is essential. Intellectual curiosity a must. Ability to function effectively within a fast-paced, diverse, and evolving corporate culture is necessary.
  • Technical acuity and confidence to act.
  • Energetic, enthusiastic, self-motivated and ability to work independently at times.
