DESCRIPTION:
Continually improve and maintain the company quality assurance system and team in such a way that they positively impact the performance of the organization. Ensure continuous improvement efforts and management involvement to provide an effective Quality Management System. Initiate and implement quality improvement and product/process standardization activities to ensure the performance of manufacturing and the organization’s product. Ensure raised awareness by team members of their impact on the quality management system. Responsible for planning, organizing, directing and controlling the Quality operations of the organization. This is a salary-exempt position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to the Assistant Director of Quality
- Develop, implement, manage, and maintain certification for the Quality Management System (QMS) which is focused on customers’ requirements and expectations and is driven to continually improve the products and processes.
- Develop and maintain all supporting QMS documents, including quality manual, policies, quality assurance procedures, process flows, work instructions, and forms
- Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance and the customer
- Responsible to prepare manuals for customer orders
- Manage the Corrective/Preventative Action process that performs root-cause analysis and other problem-solving activities to identify effective corrective and/or preventative actions and process improvements
- Develop and maintain the calibration program for all test and measurement equipment used in the design and inspection of our products
- Act as Audit Coordinator, responsible for the scheduling and reviewing all internal audits performed
- Work with Sales/Marketing on driving improvement in RMA process, arriving at corrective action and root cause and getting to systemic fix
- Oversee and participate in all external audits (registrar, supplier, and customer) performed
- Participate in preparing and conducting regular supplier performance evaluations
- Assist with or manage policy deployment in the areas of Lean Manufacturing, quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction, plant performance measures and continuous improvement in all areas of the company
- Establish analysis of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality
- Maintain a collaborative relationship with peers; keep all team members fully informed
- Review customer purchase orders and change requests and ensure any necessary criteria and provisions are included in quality process plans
- Interface with supplier and quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented
- Perform regular staff performance evaluations, approve compensation levels and ensure employee development
- Manage the Product Return group including the overall process, as well as the daily operation and statistical data analysis
- Manage the daily operation of the Field Service department including the quoting, coordinating, scheduling, performance (if required), and all follow up and reporting
- Promote continuing education for group by leading by example through methods such as reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
- Adhere to budget responsibility in accordance with company objectives
- Protect company proprietary and confidential information in accordance with the company’s confidentiality policy
- Foster ethical and responsible decision-making driving accountability
- Carry out any other essential duties as may be assigned
COMPETANCIES:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree or five years quality related management experience
- Extensive experience in designing, implementing and maintaining ISO quality systems is required
- Diverse knowledge of inspection and control methods, techniques and documentation is required
- Significant understanding of project management techniques
- Familiar with 7 Step problem solving techniques
- Broad knowledge of theory and principles of statistics and statistical process control
- Possess effective written and oral communication
- Take a forceful stand on important issues without being excessively abrasive
- Demonstrate ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information rapidly
- Identify significant problems and opportunities
